Actually Game Golf has a new "Game Golf Live" thats tracks things live. I love the original Game Golf and have ordered the live version @ 50% off for previous game golf users.
It is a handy tool for getting a better idea of your club distances and where your misses end up most of the time. You can look at decent amount of data and try to figure out so shortfalls of your game. None of my friends us it so I don't take advantage of the "challenges" much. However it took a few rounds to remember to tap but now its become part of the routine. The accuracy is pretty good and it does detect swings that you might have forgot to tap.

Gleneagles is offering annual membership for 2016. I have never played there so looking for comments about the course. Is the course walk-able? I played at Valley Ridge this year and if Gleneagles is as good or better than Valley Ridge, I might join them next year. Any comments are welcome.

The back 9 is definitely not walkable. Some pretty long treks between holes and some solid up and downs. Front 9 is not too bad. Gleneagles is a pretty decent course, haven't been in a few years but I always enjoyed playing there. Just a very far drive for me coming from the deep SW.

Nope, not for 4K with cart.Best value in the Calgary area for an annual is still Delacour.$2500 and it is walkable.

^^ Yes, Delacour is a great deal, but from a location perspective, not the closest alternative to the Cochrane/NWish sort of area. Not many other semi-private courses, other than Lynx Ridge, if you are up in that general corner of the city though, is there? Valley ridge I guess, which is definitely better than Gleneagles and Lynx Ridge.
Speaking of memberships, it is incredible how cheap you can find equity memberships for semi-private courses. You still have to deal with annual fees, but it wasn't too long ago that semi-private equity was at least 15-20K. Very easy to find the same ones now for 4-5K. Likely a combination of the economy and apparently a decrease in popularity of the sport.

Thanks for your responses. I like VR and $3200 a year isn't bad. Just interested into trying something new like Gleneagles after a year a VR. But sounds like I better stay at VR now.

Oddly enough Delacour isn't that much further than Gleneagles. I'm in Tuscany, can be at Gleaneagles in about 20 minutes, Delacour is under 30. 10 minutes difference is pretty negligible.
As for VR, the course is beautiful but the proximity of houses to is a definite drawback. At least for me.

So what Golf gifts did you guys get for Christmas that you liked?
I got one of those Zepp Golf gadgets that measures swing data and it's been pretty cool. I've been to the Golf Dome at TPC Fox Hollow three time to try it out and it provides a lot of data to think about. If you like these kinds of things you should give one a try.

Has anyone seen annuals drop in price?
Best I've seen on kijiji is $2800 at Sirocco.
I would have expected them to drop more in this economy, but I guess if you aren't working golf memberships might get used more.

I have seen Countryhills for $3800 and Hamptons for $5300 (carts included) asking too. Final price probably could be had for a little lower than that.
Actually, between Chills and Hamptons, which one will you choose?

Country Hills 13 times out of 10. 36 holes beats 18 all the time. Talons is one of the best layouts in the city.

Does the Hamptons annual give you playing privileges at the other Windmill courses and Heritage Pointe?

That's the one. It's really light, you don't even know that you're wearing it and it is really easy to set-up.

Yes you can play at the other 5 (I think) courses. But only Heritage Pointe is worth going away from Hamptons for.
