I hope we win tonight, but I do hope Columbus makes the playoffs. One, it'll mean that the Habs probably don't make it. And two, I've always had a soft spot for that team. Their fans seem pretty knowledgeable, and have supported the team, even though it's probably the weakest of all the 90's expansion teams in terms of on ice success. Even the Panthers have made it to a cup final once.

This will be a tough one. Flames will need to come out flying and get the early lead.

I actually think that this trade is what has messed them up and caused them to falter. Having brought it Duchene, they have been playing him on th first line with Atkinson and Panarin, moving PLD down to the 2nd, and sometimes 3rd line, totally messing with the chemistry that this line had. They should have left PLD with Atkinson and or Panarin and put Duchene on the second line.
I am sure Torts knows better then me, he is an NHL coach after all, but it became pretty obvious pretty quickly that Duchene on the top line wasn't working imo.

Good job Q-Scout!

Thanks, living in the Atlantic Time Zone makes it easy to do early (and I generally have the write-up done the day before) so it's a matter of copy/pasting while the Keurig is making my coffee.
I mean, the best I can do is projected starters (which aren't overly accurate).
All that said...
I agree with Bingo the drama of the epic fail would be something to see, despite the fact that (a) I actually like Tortorella, there are a number of stories of him being a genuine great person outside of hockey, too many for me to hate; (b) Pierre-Luc Dubois played junior in my hometown and lived across the street from my folks, can't hate that want to see the kid do well; and (c) it's Columbus, no real reason to hate the team and want to see them fail, not like our neighbours to the north or west.
Regardless,
Go Flames Go

Is it too late to fly Bob Hartley in? Get him a seat behind the 'Jackets' bench?

If so, we need to hire him in some minor capacity for gifting us Tkachuk! and the Oilers, Pulijarvi!

I'm not so sure he'd be out. No way an organization shoves all those chips in without the approval of ownership.

Columbus might be #2 behind Carolina to be my darkhorse sentimental favorite to come out of the East. One crazy run before Bob and Panarin leave as UFA's...
Until then, let's go with a Flames 3-2 overtime win tonight. Gio, Backlund, and Johnny for the OT winner...

I have to agree with the take I saw on twitter back at the trade deadline that if Columbus doesn't make it, it likely means a lot of GMs being scared off from making big, exciting trades at the deadline for a few years. It'll be less fun for us as fans!

Great opportunity to open up a lead on the Sharks. Awesome we have clinched but still a huge 2 points.

Columbus played a hard fought game earlier in the year although we were scoring at will. It wont be easy.

Friday's win v. the Rangers was Rittich's first +0.900 SP home ice performance since 22 January; I expect to see him do that again tonight, and then to never look back.
