I caved and did it. The only one I couldn't find was JP Lamoureux
Thanks though...

Bennett has another goal and an assist. Guy is playing out of his mind.

I was going to go watch Spencer play tonight... but sadly was given a shift at the last moment. I'll check him soon though, pretty excited even though he's an older junior player.

Greg Nemisz article
http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|CGY|home
Quote:
“He plays a lot, he plays power play, he plays five-on-five, he plays penalty kill – but he earned it,” Playfair said. “ He protects the puck so well, he’s strong on pucks and he’s a smart player.

The only ECHL affiliate the Flames have players on right now is Utah (I believe their deal with Victoria expired). Spencer Bennett (WHL) got traded to the Vancouver Giants at the trade deadline.
Thanks for doing this. Much easier to navigate!

New TJ Brodie article up on the Flames website:
Quote:
Its always nice to get points, but the defensive side is what Ive been concentrating on, admitted Brodie. Making sure when Im out there the other team doesnt score, if we score when Im out its a bonus.

great long interview with Jim Playfair
http://www.fan960.com/media.jsp?cont...7_171117_15440
sounds like he loves Chris Breen; Breen is NHL ready! Big solid D-man. Very consistent, competes hard. Great at retrieving the puck and making the outlet pass to forwards; he and Pelech play against all the top lines in shutdown roles
says Nemisz has been the best, most consistent player; just needs time to get NHL size/strength; plays all situations, big minutes guy; great at protecting the puck - definite NHLer once he has time to develop, get stronger
Gaelan Paterson keeps finding way to get better; strong, great skater
Stone is a great competitor; once he gets back to game shape after brutal knee injury, he will get back to NHL; peerfect, prototypical playoff warrior
Meyer very versatile; plays all forward positions; needs to bang bodies play aggressive to be effective
team is confident, takes pride in playing well in tight games; never nervous in close games - very impressive for young team
Irving got hurt around X-mas; came back in a bit of a slump, but now playing as sharp as Playfair has ever seen him

When I spoke with Playfair during training camp, he mentioned Nemisz as one of the players he was really looking at to see how consistent he could be. Nemisz has a career-long history of winning (Bantam, Midget, Junior) and has thankfully emerged as one of the leaders. That said, he's just 20 and still physically maturing.

Leland Irving article
http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...888/story.html
Quote:
"He decided last summer that he was going to commit himself to conditioning," says Abbotsford head coach Jim Playfair.
"He reported to the summer development camp in excellent shape."
In years past, Irving worked over the summer up in the northern Alberta oilfields for his family's excavating company. Lastwsummer, he trained full-time and even consulted with goalie coach Lyle Mast.
Mast worked with Irving on his positioning. Taught him to better track the puck.
The tutelage worked with Irving cleanly winning the duel with Matt Keetley for the starting job on the farm.
"Last year, I had a deal with Darryl (Sutter) that I was going to play each goaltender and split time right up the middle until Christmas to see how it shook out," Playfair says. This year was different. The deal was whoever was going to step up and be No. 1 would be the No. 1. We wanted to identify a No. 3 in the organization.
"Leland took that challenge on."

I would be really surprised if the Flames didn't get a couple top sixers out of the current WHL group. They are tearing it up.

Some other updates:
Nick Larson Scored 2 goals this weekend, to give him 9 with 7 assists on the year.
Bill Arnold, continues to impress with another 2 goals and1 assist this weekend to give him 9 goals and 7 assists in 28 games in his freshman campaign.
Ramage had an assist. 1 goal 10 assists for 11 points.
And our two Swedish kids in Allsvenskan have been doing pretty well lately.
Bjorklund, now has 14 goals and 11 assists in 46 games for Rogle. He is developing nicely. If his skating is improving we could be looking at a decent offensive option with size down the road.
Dielert has 4 goals and 6 assists on loan in Orebro during a 17 game stint. this guy seems to be doing quite well in the Allsvenskan. Last year he scored at a .5 ppg. He could be a steal.
And Timmy Erixon has not been racking up points lately but he still has an amazing amount of points in 136 games in the Elitserien for a kid under 20. Rundblad is the talk of that league but Erixon is universally heralded as a better 2way player with a better slap shot. So if timmy translates his game to NA at .5ppg for a 2way defenceman, then we may be real happy with this kids game.
