Ya it’s over. They don’t deserve to win. You can’t blow a lead like that. Hats off to Seattle

Romano and Gausman deserve absolutely none of the blame. None.

Welcome to all the new negative posters in this thread.
For everything else, game is over as a 9-6 final if that pop up in the 8th is hit 5 ft further or shorter.
Let's go Jays. Big bottom of the 9th.

Outscored 9-1 since Gausman left the game.
Yikes.

Luckily only down by 1, so still a chance.

Analytics is just playing the best odds and going with the probabilities that give you the best chance of winning over a long sample size. It doesn't guarantee anything moment to moment.
In a game like baseball, with so much randomness, the right call can still lead to the wrong outcome.
Analytics or a manager decision didn't lose this game. The inability for players to execute did.

There are three big "what ifs" here. One is what you said. Another is what if they let Gausman finish the inning. The other is what if strike 2 to Kirk was properly called a ball.

My friend texts me at 8-1 and saying he has to go out but is recording the game and turning off his phone. Says hopefully they don't blow this. I feel sorry for him when he goes to watch the rest of the game.

Mariners scored 9 runs after Gausman was pulled because he was nearing that adorable number of 100 pitches. So cute.

I don’t mind lifting Gausman there given the situation but why for Mayza who switches Santana around to his good side?
