Yes, the Alberta Liberal party has been doing this for a long time.

Yes.

Yes, and that's only because Alberta has such a high existing Ukrainian population and pissing them off would be political suicide.

For as bad as the Ukrainian situation is, the situation in Haiti might be equal or worse. I'd be curious to know how she would accomodate both if the UCP's Alberta is calling.

The Ukrainian asylum seekers are all funneled in under CUAET so not tracked with the rest, but they would still undoutedly make up the largest group of asylum seekers over the last year.

https://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/en/statis...DStat2023.aspx

This page lists the rest. So it could boil down to racism, but IMO right now it's easier to chalk it up to just plain ol stupidity and incompetence. Don't put out a massive residential attraction campaign and petition the feds for more settlement and then claim that we don't have room.

I think it boils down to right wing anti-immigrant sentiment, and Smith having her leadership review coming up, and oh, surprise! She's beholden to their noose, and is doing what she can to keep her head out of it. I don't think it's any more complicated than that. #leadership

10% unemployment in cities certainly don't help. I would say the majority of Canadians are feeling this way with respect to immigration in the past year, at least. This sentiment isn't necessarily tied to racism, but for sure there are people that do look at it that way.

It is a pretty big change in stance of the UCP from running campaigns across Canada telling people to move here and dreaming of a Red Deer Megalopolis

We schedule a debate.

Danielle Smith vs. Donald Trump, at the Saddledome.

Last day! Its being demolished that night. We sell tickets. All proceeds go to AHS and our Education budget.

All of the concession workers will get a text: '15 minutes to GTFO.'

Then we weld the doors shut from the outside and hit the explosives.

Win/Win/Win amirite??

Do you really?

Your marginal rate might be 48%. However your actual tax paid income tax is likely not higher than 35% probably closer to 30%. Your property tax say 7k per year at those incomes likely only adds 2-3%. Then at most GST could add 5%.

So that comes out to around 43%. So yeah if you are up for giving half that sounds reasonable.

This Province needs to be run by Accountants. And....*spits on ground* an Actuary or two.

The Alberta Pension Plan is a terrible, terrible idea, for a whole host of reasons.

Gutting AHS, to a degree, is a terrible plan. You tried it with the Labs and it was nothing short of a cosmically comical disaster. Terrible idea.

At the next Election people should be required to check a box.

"Are you a Libertarian?"

If they select 'Yes' then they need to be rounded up onto rail cars and shipped...can you run a train into the ocean? We need to research this.

On the up-side, their education was likely so poor they wouldn't know what they were signing up for. We'd need a seriously iron-clad Legal Waiver of some sort.

Troutman? MBates?

Those weren't accountants at Boeing but Jack Welsh style crony libertarian MBA types who tried to maximize executive and shareholder and gut the company.

If anything Alberta would be best run by a panel of engineers and technical experts. They probably can't communicate what they want to do very well but at least the plans will work

Lol engineers making plans work out? Here get a load of this regarded engineer, Timun. Guy is dumb as a stump and talks out of his ass regularly. Knowing someone as simple as him shares a professional designation with me cheapens the work I put into it. This is his professional engineering opinion on the water main break. Idiot.

He also stupidly posted his stamps online in a sad attempt at winning at argument, man it would be a shame if one of the many versions of AI could decipher his name from his stamp. It would be even worse if this info made it to the appropriate regulatory bodies lol.

Pretty sure the south side of the city, fed from the Glenmore Reservoir, would be entirely unaffected by this break, but anyway...
