Perez is leading but on team orders Max passes him. That results in endless speculation and a billion (more) “Max and Checo rift” stories to show up in my F1 timeline this week.
|
Considering team orders already handed Max a win that otherwise would have been Checo's it could actually be a thing, or certainly may become one. They would only be a couple points apart in the standings were it not for that.
Would be pretty amusing in the end, after Max crashes out a couple times, to see Leclerc barely win the championship over Perez in part because team orders took a couple victories away from Perez.

Ferraris reliability issues are biting them in the arse hard. Pair that with Sainzs consistency issues it's all coming undone for them. Would not shock me in the least to see them P3 in constructors championship by the end of the year if this keeps up.
Quite the unraveling were seeing at Ferrari.
Vettel with yet another strong finish at Baku, Danny Ric finishing ahead of Norris.

Agreed. You know Mercedes will keep fighting and figure things out. Too bad Ferrari can’t challenge RB.
Not a good week for me. I keep second guessing and shouldn’t. I had Max and Checo 1 2 and then changed my mind. Never go with your heart.

VER PER and LEC each have 2 retirements now. RBR have won the last 5 races, with LEC only outscoring a Red Bull once (2nd to PER in 4th at Miami).
Points scored since Australia:
VER 125
PER 99
RUS 62
SAI 50 (2 ret)
LEC 45 (2 ret)
HAM 34
RBR 224
MERC 96
FERRARI 95
I'm pretty sure Imola is still the only time a Merc finished ahead of an RBR/Ferrari that finished (LEC's spin)...

Very debatable. It was a no-brainer strategy call in Spain. VER was catching PER at 1.5 seconds per lap and Perez would have had to keep him behind for the last 17 laps of a 29 lap stint. BOT was the only point scorer with a longer stint (32 laps) and he got eaten alive at the end.
PER is a tire whisperer and maybe could have pulled it off, but it would have been an insane call when Max was 19pts and PER 38pts behind LEC at the time.

I just landed like 3 minutes ago. Waiting to deplane.
Rain Friday. Cool both Saturday and Sunday but not likely to see any rainfall. Fingers crossed for a great race.

Really hoping it drizzles off and on a bit for raceday so we have a bit of interest as far as running slicks or inters at least. Like it when just the bit of rain shakes things up.
Enjoy the weekend Cecil! Definitely on the bucket list.

Official: Piastri to Williams replacing Latifi in 2023. Alpine loaned Piastri.
Thats a nice young driver pairing IMO for Williams now. Albons getting just as much and maybe a bit more out of the car than Russell did. Only thing holding Williams back now is their speed and reliability. Which is coming along slowly.

Thanks!
And I’m with you on the rain. But even if it only rains on Friday, it’ll mean that teams will only have dry conditions for FP3 and qualifying to test the pirelli tires, which have never been used at this track before. Could make for some interesting tire selection choices.

This is ####ing bananas. I think there’s 50000 people at the open house for the pit walk. At least triple compared to any of the other years I’ve been here. ####. I liked it better before F1 was popular lol.

Haha, yeah popularity has its pros and cons. I'd imagine Montreal will be even more fun than usual. I love that city.
Where are your seats again?? I've sat just down from Champions corner. Would love the hairpin one year.
At a wedding this weekend so early picks in case I forget tomorrow.
