I'm looking for a good wireless internet adapter for desktop. I'm thinking of a usb one, price range 20-60 depending on performance. Ill be moving to a place that only has wireless internet. Anyone have any advise on a good adapter?

I think the best advice is to move into a place that doesn't suck.

If that's not an option, possibly due to your poor performance on walks etc, to make the best choice you need to know the situation. Is the wireless dual band? N? G?

Once you know that stuff, go here and choose the one. If you don't know, then you are probably safest choosing one like this.

I wouldn't limit it to USB though, unless you don't have an open slot in your computer.

You probably want to get something up to date with dual band support like the ASUS USB-B53 here. It's in the price range:

If your place doesn't have it, that's fine... but moving around to routers that do, it makes a difference if your area is highly congested with 2.4 band traffic.

I do have a slot open and I know how to install cards, Would that give me better performance then a usb?

It removes the 'oh crap I kicked that USB dongle sticking out of my computer and broke it' or the 'I need to plug in my phone, ipad and transfer my porn to my external hard drive and ran out of USB slots' problems.

Performance wise, I doubt you would have any major issues, since USB 2.0 should easily give you enough throughput to handle any expected internet speeds.

I have a cheap wireless USB network adapter from monoprice on a desktop. Once properly set up, it works better than the wireless on my laptop and I have very little if any loss of speed or connection.

I think this is it.

very little sticks out so chance of kicking it is small.
