Have to say, listening to hockey players chat about hockey without giving stock answers was really fun

Wonder how many guys are dying to get a piece of mcjesus. I can count 23 to start with. There is no way guys in the league are cool with a guy with one full season being the top dog.

I could see guys like Crosby and ovy wanting to drop gloves cuz the Oilers broke protocal.

If the other players were worried about McDavid being paid like the top dog, they shouldn't have voted for him for the Ted Lindsay Award.

Why would Crosby or Ovechkin be upset? They "broke protocol" first, a decade ago.

Pay isn't linearly proportional to talent; it's about supply and demand: there's one generational talent negotiating salary in 2017, there are many more Gaudreau comparables negotiating salary in 2017.

Well, I set virtually no weight on past chemistry in junior leagues. Otherwise, Hayes is a good player, but not someone who I believe would provide much of an improvement over anyone else on the roster.

He looked good at the WC, FWIW. I'd give him a serious look. But I agree with you on ex-junior linemates, maybe based on Hnat Dominichelli.

Taking the fact that he has chemistry with johnny (which is obvious from their short time at the WC this year) Hayes is big, can skate, plays centre and RW, nearly had 50 points last year. He is essentially a better version of Ferland and would absolutely fill a need on this roster...

Have you watched Hayes play? He is nothing like Ferland, that's a terrible comparison.
