I wonder how big his parents are... It would give at least an idea how much growth potential he still has in him

Matthew Phillips with a goal tonight and now has 48 which is one behind the leaders. He was also -2 for the night as Victoria lost 6-2 to Kamloops. Dillon Dube had 2 goals, 1 assist and +2 tonight. He was named first star in a Kelowna 8-1 win over Vancouver. Eetu Tuulola pointless in Everett 3-2 loss to Seattle. Nick Schneider stopped 18 of 21 shots in Medicine Hat 9-3 win over Edmonton. Tyler Parsons stopped 30 of 33 shots as London lost 4-1 to Erie.

Dube has impressed me a lot since the WJ's. He always seemed to be creating chances and involved in the play. I thought he was one of the most effective forwards on the forecheck. Interesting to note that pro-rated, he would hit almost 100 points this season. I am actually more excited about him than Phillips. Phillips, Fox, Dube and Parsons have had very good post-draft years. I am excited for Tuulola too and hope his production increases as he gets used to being and playing in NA.

It's still early but combine that with Tkachuk's play, and Falkovsky' work in the ECHL, it's been a good year for that draft class. Don't know much about Mattson and Lindstrom to comment on their development.

Phillips played against Dube tonight in a Victoria vs Kelowna matchup but the Rockets came out on top with 4-3 OT win. Dube seems to have had a monster game meanwhile Phillips was held off the scoresheet but was stopped on a breakaway in the first.

Dube: 2G + 2A for first star of the game increasing his point total to 53P in 37GP

Elsewhere, Tuulola notched 1A in a 5-1 win against Tri-City and Schneider was scratched in MH's win against the Oil Kings.

Despite you holding your breath Johnny is invaluable to the Flames' success, so if Phillips ends up contributing anywhere near as much as Gaudreau then it's worth getting 'hyped'. Gaudreau is hit every so often & manages to bounce back so I don't know if your worries are really justified.

The real question is whether Phillips will be able to translate his success in the WHL to the pro leagues. It's become tough to project how these WHL superstars will do against NHL defences.

Dube is looking very very nice. Improvement by many of our prospects from the 2016 draft. Great to see and well done Brad and Button. Another first round pick added to the pool next year and this team all of a sudden has some solid farm depth imo.

For what it's worth, Dube has 23 Points in 10 games. Impressive.

Phillips was on the ice for the 2-0 goal for the giants but stayed out and scored seconds later in the slot. 49th of the year! 2-1 midway through the game

Phillips just potted his 50th of the year on a penalty shot... it was a nice snipe too.

Don't know about his parents, but i worked with his brother up until about 2 years ago. He doesnt have much meat on the bones and is probably 6'1 and 145, so if thats an indication....

I like the 6'1 part. My wife's brother was 5'6 all through school then between 19-20 he grew 6 inches!

Could you imagine? A growth spurt like that could turn him into the steal of the century.

I scoured for info on Jeremy Brodeur and it seems he was a FA invite to Columbus' camp. He's still a FA. I know we have a log jam a bit, but I like the idea of having as much talent as possible to succeed Elliot.
