with the Blues making the coaching change they should right the ship, I never like the chances of beating out the Kings, though the Flames have done that once.
Honestly starting to think it's a battle of Alberta for one spot, with the Flames disadvantage by 9 points. They're the target as I see them the most likely to hit a bump and drop a few.
Do think the Flames are going to need to get to 92 points now.
Clubsportsstats has adjusted the number from 87 to 90 over the past few weeks.

Can the Flames go 10 games over .500 in 29 games?
Basically, yes. But also no. But kind of mostly yes.
This team has at times looked borderline AHL worthy. But there have been stretches of games where I would confidentiality put them up against the best in the league.
I know most fans say that. "When we're playing well, we can beat anybody!" And Its true with the parity in the league. But I really believe that this team is good enough to go on a good run. Compare that to last year, where I had no confidence whatsoever that they could make a legitimate push. Only a fools hope.
If you were to ask me who the real flames are, Jekyll or Hyde? I would say, Mr Hyde. With Dr Jekyll's haircut.

Flames do play the Kings 4 times down the stretch. I think that is what will go a long ways to deciding things.
I also think the other thing to watch for is the oilers down the stretch. Talbot has played a lot of games and they see it necessary to play him on back to backs. If he burns out that 7 point gap may be in reach. Not really that inconceivable to go 3-0-1 better than the oilers over the last 28 games.

Yup. With this much parity it comes down to the divisional games and the head to head games especially.
Excluding the head to head games, here are Calgary and Edmonton's records this year:
Kings won in overtime Jets, Blues, Predators, Stars, and Canucks lost

If the Flames continue their post-All-Star trend of winning 2 then losing 1, they will finish the season with 93 points which should put them in a playoff spot by season's end. Keep it up Flames!

So in other words getting swept by the Oilers will probably be the team's death knell. It's actually quite fitting IMO as if you get swept by that team you don't deserve to make the playoffs.
