How did everyone in that room not just burst out laughing at every moment of these auditions?

I guess maybe I don't understand what it takes to be a Mascot, but all of them seemed underwhelming. I didn't see much that would get a crowd going or interaction between mascot and crowd, which I think is what make mascots like Harvey and Farley so great.
Then again, if I even had the nerve to get up there I would probably be up there cabbage patching and attempting to MC Hammer dance so probably shouldn't point too many fingers.

I think that bald guy is considering starting a lucrative career cooking meth. You have to make a lot of bad decisions in life to be "that old guy at the mascot tryouts."

Thanks, me too now. Then Best in Show, then This Is Spinal Tap...
This mascot video was crazy. I liked the second one, with the guy that does the strange things with his arms then finishes with what I like to think of as a very proud, "You're welcome" smile. He's great.

I've watched this video five times now. After the third time there was the usual laughter, but then a bit of horror at the fact that these are the type of people who put on those costumes. Then there was laughter again.
They're all so hilarious in their own way. If I had to rank them on sheer awkwardness, I'd have to go:
1. Track pants with the funky arm movements and the "you're welcome smirk." (#2)
2. Goalie mask who what appears to climax atthe Flo Rida beat drop, but then does nothing. (#4)
3. The skinny kid who does throws up the Johnny Manziel money hands, sits down and let's out a huge yawn, or sigh. I can't tell. (#3)
4. The large girl who blows a kiss at the end. It makes me cringe for the judges. (#1)
5. The incredibly boring kid who appears to be playing some sort of air clarinet. (#5)
6. The last girl actually isn't all that bad. I'd bet money on her actually being the new mascot (#6)

Do I need to buy you a ticket to Glen Falls? I think the off-season has gotten to you.
Also, Global News Calgary just showed the video on the evening news. The anchors couldn't keep it together.

They are all kind of lame. I guess auditions would be a lot harder .
A few years ago the Kid that was the Pittsburgh Penguins Mascot use to be Rory the Tiger ( Medicine Hat Tigers) . He was literally scouted to NHL status. When he was a kid working as Rory, he wore full hockey gear underneath and slide belly first and to cart wheels down the aisle. A Pittsburgh scout saw him and the next thing you know he was off to Pittsburgh.
