NCAA weekly polls are out again:
Boston College is solidly #2 in the nation in both polls now. They're even starting to get some first place votes. Tonight is the first round of the annual Bean Pot tournament between the four Boston-based teams at the Garden. BC is looking for their fifth straight Bean Pot title.

Providence keeps dropping each week it seems. Now they're #8 on the USCHO.com poll and #9 on the USA Today poll after a 2-4-2 record in January. They're off until next Tuesday and need a big push to end the year. They have six Conference games left, and four are against two of the weakest teams, so that will hopefully give them some confidence going into the playoffs.

Yale has settled in at #13 in both polls and might have to win their Conference to get back to the NCAA Tournament.

Boston College should run away with the Beanpot

they've beaten Northeastern and BU twice and Harvard once in the 5 games vs their Beanpot rivals this season

The streak lives:

“@BCHockeyNews: GOAL!!! Kevin Hayes puts BC up, 2-0 with assists to Bill Arnold and Johnny Gaudreau at 1:20 #WeAreBC”

3rd period happening right now. Arnold set a new career year for points in a season. Gaudreau just about scored as I was typing this.

Ha. Johnny Gaudreau skates the puck into the empty net. Arnold with the assist. 30th of the season for Arnold. 1g,1a for Johnny.

Man, I was getting worried it was just going to be a 1 point game.

BC is 12-0-1 since the start of December. Next Monday they play Northeastern in the Beanpot final, also at the Garden.

from the sounds of it Gaudreau had a lot of amazing scoring chances that he just failed to put away

1/2 were scoring chances, 1/2 were quality possession. Put he could have had a 2g 2a type night based off of positive puck movement by BC

Highlights...

That might have been the easiest goal Johnny has ever scored. Nice moves from Johnny and Bill on Hayes' goal.

Love that replay, the only way the D man can pin down the slippery Johny Hockey is to take himself completely out of the play, leaving Hayes 100% open for an easy tap in off a nice pass from Arnold.

I want that replay as my screen saver lol.

Is Jimmy Hayes (drafted by TO traded to Hawks traded to Florida) and played college at boston related to Kevin Hayes now playing for Boston college?

Jimmy is Kevin's older brother (by about 2.5 years).

Is anyone else thinking Arnold might be the answer to the shortage of RW prospects in our system? With young C's like Monahan/Backs/Colborne/Knight/Granlund/Reinhart in the frame and Jankowski in the pipeline we could afford to shift him to the wing.

He's already a '200-footer', is responsible defensively & physically mature. What are the odds he cracks the lineup as early as next year? Bill 'The Wildcard' Arnold.

How great is it that our cupboard is deep enough that guys like Arnold and Kulak fly under the radar and are "underrated"? Nice feeling.

Hope some of these guys can crack the Flames lineup some day.
