Zagidulin...strong performance in the KHL (better than Gilles in a weaker league)
Has potential to follow a similar trajectory as Rittich

Ruzicka purely because he has the most NHL capable talent left on this list. I have serious concerns that he will never figure out the work ethic part, but if he ever does, he's an NHLer at some level.

I don't see any other bonafide NHL talents on the list at this point.

Went Tuulola but it's a coin flip at this point forward for me.
Actually a coin flip is a terrible analogy as it suggests it was down to just 2 prospects.
More like a 10 sided dice.

Have to like that we are this far into this process and there are still 10 or so prospects that have a legit chance to play NHL games at some point.

Gawdin probably should go here.

0.59 PPG as a rookie in the AHL is pretty good (top 50 for U-22 forwards in the AHL) and is a much needed RH shot in the organization.

But really Zagidulin, Gillies, Feuk, Ruzicka, Roman, Lerby, could all go here and it could make sense.

Small sample size, but Milos Roman really impressed me at the WJC’s for Slovakia. More so on the defensive side of the game and compete level. Of the 3 Calgary Slovak prospects, he looked the best in my opinion, so it’s interesting to me he’ll likely be ranked last of the three.

This said, Ružička gets my vote this round. My limited viewings of him, he plays a relatively soft game for his size, but it’s hard to overlook a 6’4” centre with some skill.

I went Gillies, but Ruzicka, Gawdin, Roman all make sense. Others do too.

I went with Ruzicka this round. The recent Athletic article with Stillman singing his praises coupled with a signed ELC make him an interesting prospect to watch this season. He certainly has the tools and has put on some impressive performances as a junior level player. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of role he carves out for himself in Stockton as it seems like there is a ton of opportunity there.

Went Gillies this round. While I do not necessarily feel he has starter potential in him, I do think he can become a very reliable backup.

Almost went Ruzicka... just the work ethic part rings too many memories of other talented prospects that fizzled out. He is an otherwise impressive package that the Flames are sorely missing in the lineup IMO - a big centre with a lot of skill and IQ (though I do think that Jankowski is still improving, and look forward to seeing him away from Neal).

I voted Gawdin. I believe he can carve out a 3rd/4th line role as early as this year.

But as for goalies. I'd rank Zag above Gillies. Personally, I think Gillies is done after this year. Ideally, Gillies would be shipped out before the season starts to make room for Zag and Parsons in the AHL, leaving Schneider to get all the ECHL starts.

Look at any goalie in the NHL and compare their AHL stats to Gillies. Everyone brings up Binnington. Go look at Binnington's AHL stats and tell me he compares to Gillies... spoiler alert: He doesn't

Gillies really seems like to odd man out to me. Between Parsons and Zagidulin, Gillies is likely bound for the ECHL.

Adam Ruzicka
He's big, he has decent hands and offensively ability, he is decent in his own end...but his attitude and commitment are concerns. He isn't always engaged and is easily rattled and knocked off his game, and when that happens he looks like a beer league player during a 10:45 PM weekday game going through the motions to get home ASAP. But when he is on he can drive a line and contribute at both ends of the ice. 32 even-strength goals in 65 games is impressive as is generating over 3.5 shots per game, while also having decent vision. Excellent in the dot, too - arguably the best in the OHL. If he can get the mental side figured out he has a good shot at making it as he has every tool in the box. If not, I reckon he'll be saying "what if" when he looks back on things later in life.

Ceiling: 2nd line C
Probable: 4A C
Floor: Outright bust

Also in consideration
Jeremy McKenna
One dimensional goal scorer but scoring goals is the most difficult skill in hockey. Excellent at getting open and finding gaps in coverage which allows him to get his hard and accurate shot off. Also terrific on the powerplay. But, his defensive shortcomings significantly reduce his probability of success. Hockey is full of junior snipers who didn't pan out, but there are a few who have turned into mighty good scorers. Over 5 shots per game is insane.

Ceiling: 2nd line W
Probable: Tweener
Floor: Outright bust

After Ruzicka and McKenna, I see a drop with the rest of the lot, noting I value ceiling much higher than probability of playing a handful of games on the 4th line.

I thought only players on Entry Level Contracts can be assigned to the ECHL.

Gillies would have to accept the demotion would he not?
