Front Mission 1-4 on SNES, PS1, PS2 are great tactical games.

Forget Front Mission Evolved that just came out, it's a 3rd person robot shooter

The sequel is on the psp and it's great as well with a 3rd game on its way.

Hrmm so I need a PS3.... alright then

I've actually heard really good things about that Valkyrie Chronicles.. I think for now I am going to replay Tactics Ogre.. in the basement.. in a chair with an arm that keeps falling off.. with a Flames game going on the other TV..

And yes I am ALLLLL over DCU online, but it isn't out till Q1 2011.

Ogre Battle was bad ass. I bought an e-bay copy of it a few years ago just so I could play it again.

I really enjoyed dragon age origins, although I haven't played the expansion for it yet.

I know exactly what you mean, getting burnt out with MMO's.....and one giant MMO in particular /facepalm cataclysm.

I think that Diablo 3 will be a lot of fun, but there just doesn't seem to be any concrete release date for it.

Come to think of it I might go fire up the original Dragon Warrior and kill some red/green slimes for a bit , or start Ogre Battle again, I loved that game.

Good Old Games has many of the classics.

For story and atmosphere, I'd recommend Black Isle's Planescape Torment. My favourite game of all time. They also have the old Fallouts, which were turn-based.

Serious? I'm a huge FF fan, and agree with almost all of the OP's games of choice. Skip on this child version, it is awefully dull and too simplistic.

It was good, but the engine was a mess at first. They patched it so it's perfectly playable, but I think it still runs about as well on a Pentium as it does on a current PC.

The story was pretty good and there were some improvements on how to manage the spell casters. Then there were a couple of expansions that were also pretty interesting. The last expansion was different though. It wasn't trying to tell much of a story. Kind of hack and slash. Boring. But the rest were fine.

And has no one mentioned Knights of the Old Republic? That's a classic. Every Bioware game has had the same story structure ever since: 'visit places A, B, C, D, in any order, then go to the final battle.'
