Flames Sharks @ Flames 7PM MT Sportsnet 960

Today is game 3 of the Flames 2019-2020 preseason. At this time, the lineup is still up in the air. Despite some defensive breakdowns and goaltending lapses in both games against the Canucks, the Flames have looked very good, dominating play for large portions of the game. Should be a fun one at the dome tonight to get an extended look at Pelletier, as well as our PTOs and Lucic in Flames silks. More info on the lineup as well as whether or not the game will be streamed on Calgaryflames.com will be posted when news is released.

Go Flames Go!

I ended up watching it on my phone, also fine at that size. Tried watching on my TV and it was unwatchable. On my Surface, still pretty bad.

I also watched last game via the site. I thought the quality was more than adequate.

I live in Quebec, and the game was supposed to be blacked-out.
To my surprise this was not the case.

Hope tonight will be the same situation.

Ohhhhh boy this is a big game for Gillies me thinks

Almost forgot he was a part of this, but Zags is well on his way to leapfrogging Gillies this offseason

Obviously you can't go by one preseason game but Talbot's play must have given some pause.

Can't wait to see Gillies lose the puck in his pads, then swing his body to get his legs out of the crease only to throw the puck inches away from the goal.

Also can't wait to see him stop a shoot in from the red line.

Adventure awaits!

Interesting roster. After they played so many starters on Monday, I wondered if that was going to be the standard for all the preseason games, but this lineup shows it's not.

With no Lindholm, I wonder who will be on the right side on the top line.

Yeah, even at one game it isn't a great foot to start off on

Any G in the Flames system stands to have a shot this year (though, ideally not). With Rittich coming in and growing into a starter spot... it's gotta be exciting for other prospects to see. Could have been Gillies' once upon a time

8 d-men.

Will Gio, TJ, or Hamonic see ice time in the third period?

There are some intriguing questions heading into this game. I wonder if Czarnik gets a turn on the top line after a strong performance in Victoria. I am also curious to see if the Dube · Quine · Phillips line that was so effective in that game will remain together tonight.

For those of you who saw the HNIC special about Joe Thornton's friend Steve Barber who was battling ALS, Steve lost his battle so I expect Joe probably caught a flight out right after yesterday's game. I wish you all could have met Steve, he was never down about getting ALS at 24 and he kept his great sense of humour and his love for his community and people. His foundation raised over a million dollars for ALS research. A true hero and I will miss him dearly.

I wonder if Czarnik is going to get a look on Monahan's line? He looked good vs Van, but he played well and produced in the preseason last year too.

If Czarnik could fit in on that line, then it would leave the Flames with some really good players to fill out the rest of the forward ranks. Particularly the second and third lines where you could start with:

Tkachuk* - Lindholm - ??????
??????? - Backlund - Frolik
*hopefully

And then fill in the remained with some combination of: Bennett, Mangiapane, Dube and Ryan. Definitely potential for a strong top 9.

I'm also curious to see if the return of Mangiapane will lead to a Mangiapane - Ryan based line. There were effective with Hathaway and one would think that a better third member like Bennett could work as a scoring line.
