As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.
Happy voting!
Who will join Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Sam Bennett ,Matthew Tkachuk and Mark Jankowski as the top prospect. Previous four have gone straight to the show.
Voted Gillies again. I still think there are a couple intriguing players left with Phillips, Ruzikca, Tuulola, Joly and a couple from this last draft class. Even Gadwin is a little interesting if he can build off his last year.
Torn between Gillies and Klimchuk here. Gillies has higher impact upside but goalies are so unpredictable.
I see both as having a shot to make the team. In fact Gillies might have a better one at 50-50 (against Rittich). Then factor in the higher ceiling and pedigree (aside from draft position) and I get Gillies. The stakes are a lot higher for him this year, too.
I voted for Phillips because he had 202 points and 98 goals over the last two seasons. In his draft and draft +1 years, he averaged approximately 50 goals and 100 points.

The crappy thing is waiver eligibility.
Rittich can't go down without risk, Gillies can. Hopefully it doesn't cloud judgement too much.

If Gillies outplays Rittich, the only way he is getting claimed is if another team has a backup get injured. They have to carry him on their roster all year, and the moment he gets waived, the Flames can just get him back if they want

I think it absolutely will cloud judgment. I don't see the flames ready to choose between Gillies and Rittich yet, and I don't see them ready to hand the AHL starter reins to Parsons quite yet. I mean, that would leave... McDonald as the backup in the A? And if smith goes down, and you have traded or lost Rittich through waivers, your goalie depth looks a little shakey behind a 37 year old Smith. No, I think that Gilles will almost assuredly start in Stockton.
