For the flames it probably came down to Reider vs Czarnik. Glad we got Czarnik.

Oilers needed NHL calibre wingers.
Tobias is one.
It's decent.

Unfortunately that’s a great deal. Hope he has a terrible year.

Unfortunately I doubt it. The only reason he signs that contract is to elevate his value.
He is going to be a highly motivated player. But I still hope he fails. Which, playing for Edmonton, is almost a guarantee.

A big meh from the Oilers. With their cap situation these are going to be the typical Edmonton signings for years to come. The Oilers can only afford players on short term $1-2 million dollar deals and the only players willing to move to Edmonton for that are bottom line players looking for more ice time to revitalise their careers.

Sadly, I think this is a pretty good deal.
Luckily, I'm sure the Oilers organization will mess it up and make it all for not.

This should help the Oilers and make them better.
Fortunately, the Oilers still suck.

Norm!
Its a good deal, but in the grand scheme of things, its not a monumental improvement, and the terrible stench of Oilers loser won't be repaired by this signing.

I'm disappointed with this move, but also not too worried. Tobias Rieder can't save the oilers.
No one can.
No one.
