Pretty massive over reaction. Let’s wait til the end of next season to make statements like that.

Yes, he lost todays trade at current, face value. But the most concerning part for me is the lack of direction. Trading major assets for Dougie Hamilton and even carrying his older brother on the team for a whole season is a significant investment that ultimately paid off with Dougie being one of the best offensive defenseman in the league last year. Only to trade him three seasons after acquiring him tells me he's not patient enough to be in control.

I don’t hate the trade today. I am optimistic of the upside of both players we got. I think he has more work to do. To me Fox was the tough part of the trade but I think people are going to really like Hanifin.

Or Dougie isn't the greatest in the locker room... or he can't play without Giordano

I find it funny how some people on here pretend they have 100% of the information

Ferland/Hamilton for Lindholm/Hanifin is a marginal trade to begin with. Adding Fox is ridiculous.

And before anyone says "he wasn't going to sign anyway"; if that was the case you make a separate deal with him for picks. You don't toss him into an already bad trade, and then make some BS excuse for why you did it.

This REEKS of Gilmour/Savard/Phaneuf analogies. It's just outright awful.

I wish the Flames had never even acquired Hamilton in the first place

Then they'd at least have Connor or Barzal.

Or that they can predict the future.

You'd think Fox was already the next Bobby Orr as opposed to a couple years away from even playing in the NHL.

Once again... no one has any idea on Fox trade value. Most fans of other teams havent even heard of him. He has potential but he wasnt a blue-chip prospect.

Obviously none of us are Flames personnel. So what, unless we're sitting on the Flames lap we can't comment? This is forum's literal purpose is to type our ####ty, ill-informed thoughts. You want Trelivings thoughts, you commented in the wrong place

Bold statement for Fox that hasn't played a game at the pro level yet.

I just don't get how you simply speculate he isn't patient. This is the first major player-for-player deal he has made.

Probably for the same reasons you suggested Hamilton can't play without Giordano or is a problem in the locker room.

For the same reason any of us speculate. That's ultimately what we're here to do, no? What other point is there to being on a forum as opposed to just reading Sportsnet articles?

There is an eye test. I love Hamilton and sad to see him go. However, did you not notice how horrid he looked when playing with d pattners not named Gio? Maybe you think differently.

I hate the trade but i was no fan of Hamilton. His soft play and dumb penalties will not be missed. But he did have enough value for an elite 1 for 1 top line RWer. Brad failed us.

Undone? You got two fifth overall picks who seem to be panning out.
