I would also like to see the ratio amended. I do like the idea of the QB not being used as part of the calculation. My idea is to allow an import player to be designated 'Canadian'/non-import once they have played on a team for a certain number of seasons. Say 5 seasons for example. That partially rewards a player and/or team for loyalty and could bring up the overall talent level. Once a player is traded or signs with a different team the clock resets.

Looks like Nik Lewis is going to do the one day contract thing and retire as a Stampeder. Makes sense.

Will they do it at the Als game on Saturday? Would make a lot of sense. That said, I read his mom has some recent health problems, maybe they’ll hold off so she can make the trip. I’ve met her at the games quite a few times over the years.

@calstampeders
The @calstampeders are the favorites to win at @SIASport when they head east to visit the @MTLAlouettes this week.

*facepalm*

Can't even get the games right.

We should sign him for real and then trade him to the Eskimos. He is more ready to play than Terrell Owens right now.

Saturday is Purolator Tackle Hunger Night so everybody bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation with them to McMahon! Winnipeg had 90,000 lbs in their first week so that’s the record for us to beat!

Now official:

“Nik was an important player for this organization for many years and it’s fitting that he retires as a member of the Stampeders,” Stampeders president/general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement.

“In particular, I recall Nik’s outstanding performance in the 2008 Grey Cup _ 11 catches for 122 yards _ to help us win a championship. His accomplishments on the field speak for themselves as Nik was certainly one of most popular players in Stampeders history with our fans. We celebrate his career on this day and wish him all the best for the future.”

Nik is awesome, and a guy that bled Stamps Red, glad to see him retire a Stamp.
If the Stamps were smart, they'd find something for him in the organisation.

The Calgary Stampeders will be missing a key component of the offence against the B.C. Lions.

Wide receiver Eric Rogers underwent minor knee surgery this week to knock him out of CFL action for the foreseeable future.

That will include the West Division tilt Saturday at McMahon Stadium (7 p.m., TSN/770 CHQR).

Rogers’ knee has been bothersome since he arrived in Calgary during the preseason, and because of it, he’s already missed the Week 5 win over the host Ottawa Redblacks.

Quote:
“So Eric had to get a little cleanup job, unfortunately,” said Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson. “He did that Wednesday.

“We’re hoping he will be back sooner rather than later, but he just wasn’t feeling right.
Having a healthy Rogers for the playoffs will be huge, hope he can come back in time.

Obviously, not good news, but not too worried either as the Stamps have some quality receivers (i.e. Huf has done a great job stock-piling a talented crew). Next man up.

The Calgary Stampeders added to their depth at quarterback on Tuesday, announcing the signing of international QB Montell Cozart.

The Stamps also announced Tuesday that they have released quarterback Larry Brihm Jr., who dressed in six games but did not see action in any of them.

Looks to have a strong, accurate arm and a great set of wheels - I liked how Boise State used him as a receiver as well as tossing laterals and then finding open receivers down the field. Could be another great find by Huf.

I’ve heard from a few people in the know now that Mitchell’s shoulder is quite injured still. Hopefully Cozart will be a good insurance policy if the client worst case scenario comes into play. I don’t have a lot of faith in Arbuckle.
