so beautiful...so beautiful...

(de Haan was also Hamonic's d-partner a few years back)
This is what I want too.

1)Sign De Haan
2)Trade Stone to Ottawa
3) Profit

I'd love to grab another depth defenceman who can play solid 3rd pairing minutes and be a huge physical presence.

I'm not buying the argument that we have to "make room" for Andersson, Valimaki etc. They need to force their way into the lineup and force Tre to trade/waive Stone or whoever. I'd also much rather let Andersson and Valimaki play top pair minute in Stockton than bottom pair minutes with the Flames. They'll be first call-ups when injuries hit.

Same goes for our forwards. I wouldn't pencil Mangiapane or Foo in with the Flames just yet like many have. I'd rather have them be the first call-ups then have them make the team out of camp, get put in top 6 roles when injuries hit and they're not ready, and have to call up Klimchuk or Graovac or whoever to fill in the bottom 6.

Conclusion: Depth is an awesome awesome problem to have.

I'm expecting this to be more like Graovac, Quine and Buddy Robinson type signing

Treliving talked about depth and then mentioned the AHL team. I don't expect any additions to the 6D this season, rather a subtraction at 7, with Stone traded and Prout taking his spot. The rest of the D signings will probably be for Stockton.

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Kulak-Andersson
- Prout

I don't see Stone getting traded unless Andersson comes to camp and forces Stone to the sidelines.

I've said it in another thread, but I'm hoping they can land Orpik for a cheap price. Good for the PK and still shut down. Good as a 6th dman IMO, and if he can be had for cheap on a 2 year contract, why not?

Indeed, and they're not going to go into camp without both unless the cap dictates.

Not a bad idea...he's mean as hell too. Couldn't hurt to have some hitting D, it's been forever!!

Probably looking more at guys like:

Brendan Kichton
Brent Regner
Frank Corrado
Jesse Graham
Ryan Sproul

Guys who can play big minutes and be leaders in STK with a touch of NHL experience who could come up in a real pinch.

Checks out - Name sounds familiar enough to a beloved Flame defenceman.

Brett Bellemore or Justin Falk? Both have Peters connection.
