I believe in the Jays.

It's a tricky one because the hit is clean if the Caps player didn't lower his head to reach for the puck. Should be a penalty, but hard to say there was any intent to injure

No, Ferland's angle of approach was reckless either way.

Mrazek has been brilliant on this 5 minute major. And Oshie wiped out the last minute with a penalty.

Absolutely not. Ferland made clear contact with Dowd's head. It's unambiguous.

Not sure he gets a game beyond the match penalty.

As dumb as it sounds, I think Dowd's head hit Ferland as much as Ferland hit Dowd's head.
Dowd reached forward and led with his face as Ferland was cutting across. If Ferland put his shoulder into it, or lifted his elbow, he would get the book thrown at him IMO. He did neither, so I would bet he doesn't even get a fine.

Not bad. Intent didn’t look too bad. Player reaching forward but looks like he avoided head being principle point of contact. Ill advised hit but probably not suspension worthy.

I can see it the other way now. It looks like intent to injure when he could of easily played the puck.

Drive by - I agree with Rod. Where was the (major) penalty to Ovechkin for his hit to the head?

It still doesn’t matter. If there is a zero tolerance policy, then every time the head is a point of contact there will be a call. This was a good call, and Rod Brindamour is a dinosaur.

Now it's Dougie in the box for a dumb high elbow.
Way to go, ex-Flames

It is late and dirty. He doesn't even have the puck there he is reaching for it after losing it. That is a game for sure.

Carolina has been money in the PK. Interesting they use Aho and Teravainen, but it works for them.

Fair enough. I disagree, but I can see your point. Either way, very difficult for the refs to make the call without the benefit of a replay/slo-mo.

Hamilton with a high elbow now. Ex-Flames gooning it up. Don’t agree with the match penalty on Ferly, would of gave him 2 for charging maybe. Refs probably thinking the game might get out of hand if he goes back on the ice though... but that’s playoff hockey IMO...

I guess I should clarify, I am totally opposed to the snowflake way they call the game nowadays. I am saying what the league is going to say. Aho scores, woohoo.
