I'm not sure if I'm late to the party on this series, apologies if this has already mentioned.

Line of Duty

I watched the finale last night. This is a really good British police drama, lots of interesting plot twists. Very binge worthy.

I need to get back to watching Line of Duty but you guys got me hooked on Hannibal. I'm really liking it except for when it relies on police procedural tropes. I love Scott Thompson but his snarky pathologist character kinda bugs me.

Cobra Kai seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix on friday.

I'm looking forward to a older Johnny putting that jerk Daniel in his place and a full 45 minute episode of him sweeping the leg.

Okay, its actually an older series that I was hugely skeptical of but it was actually well done and lot of fun.

The actors take it seriously, but not terribly seriously. So the acting is good, but its not full of itself. Its not some arthouse Drama.

My expectations of this show were very, very low...as in...'these guys are out of work and need money' kind of low, but its not that. It respects the material and the actors and its actually a good bit of well written fun.

So if you're on the fence about Cobra Kai and not sure, thats my testimonial.

It is not a 'so bad its good' joke, it is actually well done and entertaining.

I was quite surprised at how good the quality was. I think minimizing the use of the powers and focusing on the story made this a lot better.

Cobra Kai went onto Netflix tonight, and I have to admit that I had low expectations of it. I expected it to be sappy, cheesy and all of that stuff. Instead I got surprised by what is actually a really smart show.

Beyond some of the really good throwaway humor, Cobra Kai is a really well done character study around the idea of mischaracterization.

Johnny was the bully in the original movie, and though we saw flashes of a angry bully there was a glimpse of a confused sympathetic man, and while the show alludes to Johnny's life falling apart after losing to Daniel, I think he was predestined for a bad life. We get glimpses in the first season of a uncaring father, a ruthless teacher and we can understand why Johnny became what he was.

In a way he becomes an under dog that we should cheer for in the first season as he tries to rise above what he was and better the lives of the kids that he teaches by telling them not to accept the stereotypes that have been assigned to and not to accept their assigned roles in life.

Meanwhile Daniel while still good hearted has completely lost his way, though he tries to go back to what he was, he's become trapped in the life of the entitled and privileged winner. But his callous play to drive Johnny out of business and in effect drive everyone in the mall out of business by manipulating the rent makes one realize that at the heart of things, Daniel is the bully that he used to fight against.

The acting is really strong in this series, with the always excellent member of the life time bully hall of fame William Zabka putting in a strong and deep performance.

I know I'm at episode 7, but you can see a flip of the script so to speak coming as they approach the tournament.

Great series to watch, but highly addictive.

I watched this a couple years ago on you tube. I was hooked right away, it is a great show. I can't wait for season 3 at some point.

John Kreese is a god damn national treasure.

While the fighting in the tournament was cartoony in terms of things like seeing the one guy that was defying gravity, to some decidedly un karate like moves like a wrestling side walk slam. It was fun to watch and to see Johnny's reaction through the tournament.

I really think that Robby looks like Terry Silver and not Johnny.

I did love the attempt to say that Karate Kid was shyte when they went to the committee and talked about Kreese and Silver and Johnny blandly says, I don't know who that is.

Yeah I've been making my way through it the past couple days, it's very well done and interesting. Its funny the random stories of how some of the biggest icons in gaming history (Mario, Sonic) came about.

The episode on RPG's was fantastic and bought back names that I hadn't though of in a long time.

Richard Garriot though I wish they'd told the story of his avatars murder in Ultima Online.

Roberta and Ken Williams the creators of kings quest, which I loved. I am surprised that they didn't talk about Al Lowe and Leisure Suit Larry though.

Checked it out and ended up binging a season and a half of Cobra Kai yesterday, lol thanks for wasting my Saturday guys.

Really surprised by it. The writing isn't outstanding but is rarely ever worse than corny or shallow, the acting isn't amazing but is rarely bad, but the show has some heart and rises above the sum of its parts. I don't know if that's the nostalgia making up for things but the premise is interesting and I'm enjoying it.

I found myself having a dislike for Daniel.

He's such a pious better then you prick in the show. Johnny is on a noble cause, or trying to be, Daniel is just a jerk.
