Pretty much Chicago's last gasp. A win by Colorado and they not only solidify their invitation, but they effectively end the Hawks' chances as well (which are on life support already).
Oh, and it would put them 8 points up on the Nucks and Oilers, who each have 7 games remaining.

Lots of games impacting the bottom of the playoff race.
Arizona needs a win today too. If Colorado wins and they lose they're 3 points back with each team having 6 games left. Chicago can win to get close to the playoffs but seem to fall apart when there is any pressure. Which is odd for a team with that pedigree.
Montreal and Carolina is an important one in the Eastern wild card. Smells like a three point game to me. Columbus also needs to win against Vancouver. Canucks had a spirited game against the Flames last night, will be tough for them to bring the same intensity tonight. If Columbus can't win this game Kekalainen and Torts might as well just fall on the sword.

As far as "pedigree" only 8 players, really, have that experience .
Long in tooth D-man, Keith and Seabrook, very good Kane and Toews, journeymen Anisimov and Saad, oft-injured Crawford, and 4th liner utility man Kruger. I guess you can throw in end of the road Kunitz.
2/3 of the D, the rest of the forwards, and the coach are all green, when in comes to playoff runs.

The Habs-'Canes game is also going to be broadcast in Cree on APTN. That should be interesting.

A Calgary-based team wins a league championship trophy named after a former Governor General for the second time in the last 4 months.
Let's see this happen again in about 2 and a half months.

Eberle scored early in the first period and the Islanders continue to hold on to the 1-0 lead after forty minutes. The Islanders had a lot of offensive pressure and puck possession towards the end of the second period. The shots are 22-20 in favour of the Islanders.
The Capitals defeated the rival Flyers 3-1. The loss leaves the Flyers seven points back of the Habs for the last playoff spot.

For the Hurricanes, it is not just for the wild card. They are only four points back of the Penguins and Hurricanes for second and third place in the Metropolitan Division. They still have a chance to catch the Capitals for first place. I could see the Blue Jackets' manager getting fired if they do not make the playoffs. Tortorella should be safe.

No this would be a screw up for the ages. Torts and everyone connected to the current team would be catapulted into the sun.

Isles shut out Arizona 2-0.
This late-season eastern road trip didn't do the Coyotes any favours. 1 point in 4 games on the trip and only 2 points in their last 5 games.
Their one saving grace is they play both Colorado and Minnesota in the next week, and neither the Avs or Wild have particularly easy schedules down the stretch (although, neither do the Yotes).

Arizona has a very easy schedule the rest of the way; Minnesota has one of the hardest, and Colorado is not far behind

I think it is about to strike midnight for Arizona.
I’m thinking Colorado as the favourite for WC2 regardless of their result today. They currently have the inside track, a positive goal differential, and are good 5 on 5 with OT losses being their biggest downfall. Also the best team of the bubble teams on paper if that means anything.

It has been a fast paced game so far in the Habs-Hurricanes game, fifteen shots in the first five minutes. It remains scoreless.

The Habs scored, 1-0. The BJs are praying that this game ends in regulation time.
