The last ten forwards to win the Calder have been Barzal, Matthews, Panarin, MacKinnon, Huberdeau, Landeskog, Skinner, Patrick Kane and Malkin. The only arguably weak pick in that lineup just scored 40 goals.

My point is that it doesn't matter what the career outlook is and voters shouldn't consider that. It's who had the best season as a rookie. If it's a goalie, so be it. Just because a couple goalies went on to be mediocre, so what?
