What is Francis talking about Brodie's offensive number dwarfing Brodin's? Over their careers maybe, but Brodin outscored Brodie this past season while being better defensively.

Brodie is solid at both ends of the ice and has good underlying numbers, but you have to keep in mind he has played mostly with Giordano over the past few seasons. I can't see anybody giving Brodie a 7 year deal for 6 million per, especially during covid times.
I am convinced the comparable was raised due to name similarity alone.

Hamonic is 3 years older but other than that Brodin is a smaller less physical version of Hamonic.

I legitimately think that was a factor.

I don’t watch the Wild unless they’re playing the Flames but that does seem high. They have an absurd amount of money tied up in their top 4 with no game breakers on offense.

Does this mean they’re motivated to move a guy like Dumba?

Would Suter accept a deal to a team looking to make the floor? After next season he will be owed $10 million against a cap hit of $30 million over 4 years.

Doubt it.

$98M contract. This season he'll make $8M, then $6M the next. After that, he will only make $4M (out of $98M) for the final 3 years. And he will be 37-39.

I can't see any way that he agrees to go to a bottom feeder at that age, for that money.

Probably some cap-recapture penalties looming for the Wild.

Warm weather climate maybe? Not like the Wild will be contending either.

The Wild swung for the fences with Parise and Suter and made it to the 2nd round twice?

Yeah, at least they tried. They went all in with those guys but could never build a team around them.

As for Suter, I would expect he'll retire. Wild will probably be rebuilding, and playing for a bottom feeder can't be very enticing for someone like him.

So I did some research.

Turns out Dean Brody, Canadian country artist, has a net worth of about $8million. Guy played 30 shows across Canada in 2019 alone.

That should pull Brodie’s contract back down a little.

Can confirm. I also did some research. Brodie is a relatively common name in Australian Rules Football. The average salary for the collection of Brodies in the AFL is $371,000 per year. So that should also help.

Worried about Charles Grodin salary though.

They also don’t play the same way as Brodie but you know...Francis.

Russell Westbrook's nickname is Brodie. He makes a little over $41 million a year for the Rockets. Ruh roh.

So he's 3 years younger, smaller, less physical, better defensively, better offensively, and actually a completely different person than Hamonic?

You've got this all wrong. I'm fairly sure that ricardodw's point is that Hamonic is a $10.0 m defenseman. Duh.

Why would you sign expensive contracts with this total #### show and impending salary cap doom coming? I feel like I’m missing something but contract savings should be rising to priority 1 right now.

This is the part I don't get, there is a flat cap, and Brodin's current contract doesn't come up until next year. He's a good defensemen, but why rush and sign him right now. It's not like he will get more expensive next year.

Dumba NTC kicks in next season. Firming things up to make a move.
