Despite what Dino and Enoch love to hammer on, Demko was actually fantastic in a back up role last season. He didn't struggle until Markstrom got hurt. How Demko performed in the play-offs wasn't some "out of nowhere" thing like with Murray or Binnington. Demko is supposed to be that good. Long story short, Canucks would rather sell low on Demko to see if he can do it consistently next season. To do that, they need Markstrom.

He didn't struggle until he had to be the guy lol, well that makes it better

Perhaps we could build a time machine, and loan it to Treliving so he can go back to the 2014 Draft and tell himself to pick Demko, rather than Mason MacDonald.

I swear, Dino is more concerned about the Canucks goaltending situation than the actual fans and management of the team. lol
Canuck fans for the most part are ok with the possibility of him walking if he chases money and term because.. we have a 24 yr old stud Thacher the Snatcher Demko and Ian Clark on the team
goaltending is an organizational depth too.. we have Silovs and DiPietro still in the system.

They guy mentioned me by name I am going to respond...and we already had this convo when Markstom got injured. You guys were all Demko this and Demko that at first...then he started losing every game like I called and Houdini...Covid robbed me of the Canucks missing the playoffs without Markstrom.
Vancouver's goal tending is a pretty big story you bet your ass I will be talking about it...hope the Flames can steal the Canucks MVP

I'd be legit shocked if he signs in Calgary. It's Colorado or Vancouver I think.

But it would make for a great story...although I would miss you guys when Markstrom is carrying the Flames and Demko is searching for his jock when the pressure gets to him
If he goes to Colorado when can just all forfeit the season

So the player does give up a larger portion of paycheque, and investment opportunity, etc.
Still more lucrative to play in many American cities, plus the average player is going to have many ???? Where is my money and not fully comprehend.
Walsh can make it sound more some than it is and rarely challenged bc few people truly get it fully. Burkie has a point still but probably doesn’t know full ins and outs or have the platform to truly explain to a broad audience.

So you're saying the regular season is more pressure than back-to-back-to-back elimination games in the play-offs?
Like he may or may not succeed but I don't think it'll be a pressure thing.

Treliving had the job for, what, 2-3 months at that point? The 2014 draft is widely considered to be Burke’s draft. If you’re going to fire shots, at least point the barrel in the right direction.

Demko was amazing in the playoffs. But aren't you a bit nervous to have him just be the guy if Markstrom walks. He hasn't been all that awesome for long stretches.
I guess there are a lot of other good 1b goalies on the market tho to team him with.

It is not all that unusual to see a goalie come out of nowhere and to put together a dazzling performance for a few playoff games. I would argue that it is quite a bit more difficult to carry that consitently over the course of a full season

Actually he can still pick Demko in that spot. We had two 2nd round picks that year. He could take Point with the next pick instead of Hunter Smith.
Botching a goalie can be forgiven since they’re extremely hard to predict, picking Hunter Smith in any round of an NHL draft cannot.

Ugh. Talk about tiresome.

Just in case people forgot what Canucks fans were like when they see a modicum of success.

Yeah, they missed the playoffs, then lost to us in round 1, then missed the playoffs 4 straight years and it's been pretty quiet around here.
Definitely starting to notice them more and more on here lately.

Nah, not any more. Oiler fans have lost hope for the most part. Apathy rules those lands. Nucks fans are so Fairweather its not even funny. Then they come crawling out of the woodwork like they know everything and just Won't. Shut. Up.
Being a Flames fan in Victoria, well it can be ..... annoying AF.

As an interesting aside, I live in Chilliwack, and it is surprising how many Flames fans there are here.
