Looking at winter options for our 2019 XT5. Ideally want the winters mounted on lower end alloys. A mid-level amount of internet searching hasn't yielded anything ideal for the car.

Any recommendations for where to look? Thanks.
Phone Harpers. They are very honest about the best tires for a vehicle - they don't upsell, but they don't give you a weak tire either. Then, if you don't want to have them do it, just go elsewhere (or I suppose just buy from them). They will match a price.

Just posted a set of tires and rims that can let go for cheap if anyone is looking for 15" Tires. Been storing for 2 years and don't need them anymore

Looking for a set of 255/50/19’s for our ‘13 ML350 we just acquired and am wondering if there is a stark difference between a brand name set of winters or getting a set of Chinese winters for sub $500 ?

Anyone have any experiences between the 2 ?

What would be a good setup for a RWD truck? Winters on the back and some slim studded tires on the front? Just winters on the back? 20” rims is what we are working with.

You still want winters all around for cornering traction and stopping. I throw some cement blocks in the back of mine for the winter. Studded tires all around would help too, if you wan tot pay extra for that.

Do you strap those winter blocks down somehow? Seems like kind of a hazard, otherwise (also illegal).

No, they are like flat patio stones. I've got a rubber bed mat so they don't slide around, and a cap on the truck so I don't think they are going anywhere. I used to use sand bags but they tend to break down an shed sand everywhere. Just curious what the hazard would be?

In a moderate to severe crash they will launch. Incredibly dangerous.

Is your truck RWD?

Even if the thin studs are winter? I’ve heard ta thinner tire is best. Would be good to hear some other opinions. CP seems to be up to speed

So you have them directly in the back? Against the tail gate? What sort of placement are we talking

There are 2 on each side, at the back now wedged between the tailgate and wheel wells. I built a wood frame and bracing to keep them in place. It's a small truck, S-10. They are probably 40 lbs each block.
