Earls?
Hard to give good recommendations without more criteria. Favourite type of food? Preferred beverages? Prices? Does location matter?

Brazilian BBQ? Gaucho or Bolero.

I wouldn't take my MIL there. All the beef comes super rare and if that is not your/ her thing I'd look elsewhere, though personally I really enjoy Bolero's

I've only been there in small groups, but I think Notable is good for large private groups. The food is fantastic of course and will definitely satisfy your foodies.
We did my dad's 65th birthday in the private room at Red Water Grill in Aspen, but your foodies may prefer not going to a chain.... and the food wasn't that great with their limited menu for private groups.

Rather than creating a whole new topic, thought I'd bump this.
Looking for a fancy night out with my SO for their birthday.
Some place where we can get dressed up, have a nice fancy meal.
Looked at a few places, Alloy is the best option so far. Been dying for a good Duck Breast.
A few prerequisites:
- No place very "seafoody" (SO hates seafood).
- Decent bar, neither of us drink wine.
- Price isn't an object really.
Any recommendations?

It's hard to beat Teatro for an upscale meal.

Vero in Kensington is a favourite of my Girlfriend and I for special occasions... For her birthday last month I took her to Rouge in Inglewood, which was an excellent meal, and was a very nice atmosphere

Raw Bar is known for great cocktails, if you don't enjoy wine.

Had the duck at Il Sogno and it was fantastic.
Did the blind tasting menu at Rouge before and it was very good. The main course that night was rabbit, which I had never tried before.
Sugo in Inglewood was very good, fantastic risotto.

Great suggestions so far, Il Sogno sounds great.. Would love to try the duck. Might have to see what their Chef Menu looks like on the date too.
Raw Bar may be good for after dinner drinks too.. if we're not too full.

I took the Mrs. to Teatro for our 5 year anniversary and had the tasting menu. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. Highly recommended. I have a shellfish allergy and I could eat everything.

the Living Room (tasting menu is delightful!)
Alloy (I love the decor. It's kinda 60's space-chic, might not be your thing)
The Vin Room (I know you're not big wine-o-philes, but the Tapas menu is fun)
I also like Tango Bistro (a Smugglers product) for tapas. They do this thing with a fig, cream cheese and boar-bacon that is very nice.
Open Range is nice. Upscale-casual. They do delightful things with venison, boar, duck and goose.

When I read your first post I immediately thought Chef's Table. It is a favorite of my wife and I for the chef's tasting. I think it is an amazing restoraunt and love that you can sit front and center to watch the food get made.
Oh and lookie here, they have your duck:

After reading this I maybe making a reso myself this weekend. Paired with a nice Pinot....get outta town.

I have to agree with Cilantro. I have never had a bad meal and never felt rushed.
