Default Monopoly for Millennials

I think it's funny, but millennials are up it arms...heh.

Quote:
The game cover, accompanied with the tagline “Adulting is hard. You deserve a break from the rat race,” features a “cool” Mr. Monopoly taking a selfie, wearing a “participation award” pinned to his chest, and drinking a latte. A camera, a pair of sunglasses, and a hashtag are included among the game pieces, and there are no properties for the players to buy – instead, players collect “experiences;” for example, this edition replaces the original game’s Park Place with a “3-Day Music Festival,” while other experiences include a vegan bistro, bike share, and a yoga studio. There’s also no rent to pay and no real estate to buy because, as it says on the front of the box, “Forget real estate. You can’t afford to buy it anyway.” The game also recommends you “play it in your parents basement.”

Hahahahaha!!!!!

That should be on the game!

"Angry Millennials React on Twitter!"

Because of course they do. Whatever else you want to say about Millennials it is unequivocally true that they have no sense of humour.

This was the best part of the article.

Quote:
The game’s theme didn’t go over too well with a lot of people. After news of the game started creeping across social media, Hasbro took some serious heat from the very generation it was probably hoping would find the game amusing. Reactions from angry Millennials, as well as those who just thought the game was just in bad taste, flooded Twitter and other social media platforms, calling out Hasbro for the “offensive” and “condescending” board game.
They got offended on the internet. No, that's not at all a self-parody. Also...

Amazing.

(note: as I was born after 1982 I am apparently a millenial according to Hasbro. I find this suggestion offensive.)

I like how it's not even a full board. Like they couldn't even be bothered to come up with 3 properties...err...experiences for each colour.

Probably short-changed them on the Monopoly money too.

How old is a Millennial these days? a quick google tells me 18-38? Huh... I thought it was a little younger than that.

"3-day music festival" should really result in you losing all your money and moving around the board backwards for 5 turns. Certainly shouldn't replace Park Place.

3-Day Music Festival: Lose 3 turns due to crippling debt and vicious hangover combined with onset of recently conspicuously acquired Herpes.

No kidding. Some of those twitter responses make me shake my head. It's okay to laugh a bit even if it's at the expense of some fun being poked at your generation. It seems like nobody even cares about my generation (X) and I'm fine with that.

Her next tweet is a riveting example of why we absolutely should not make fun of millennials.

I feel like way too many people really don't realize how old millennials are now.

It's not just a blanket term for anyone younger than you that you don't identify with.
