Obviously, if they’re bringing a guy in from the future, he’s going to know what’s going to happen. get ready for a sabres 79 year dynasty. still won’t stop Oiler fans from insisting it isn’t as great as those oiler teams from the 80’s.

Well at least they didn’t rush the hire, and waited till all the end of season coaching ‘availabilities’ happen.
Oh, wait…

It is just like the Flames and Sutter. Coach takes you on an improbable run to the finals, lose on a bogus call, then a couple decades later you're back. Guess they win their division next year.

I am having serious Mandela effect. I swear he already had a second stint with them after Dallas. Am I having a stroke? or am I thinking of Ted Nolan?

The carousel of coaches in the NHL is ridiculous. It's like if you ever get a spot you'll be an NHL coach until you retire. Regardless of success. You just get cycled through all the teams and new(to you) coach bumps.

Holy Hell, at least when Flames re-hired Sutter, he had won 2 Cups. What has Ruff won?

At 64, Ruff knows he's near the end of his career, and other teams are not breaking down his door to hire him. He might just be the best coach who will accept a job with the Buffalo Sabres.
Top coaches can have their choice of teams. Up-and-coming coaches don't want that blot on their resume.

Called this when they fired Granato last week. I don't outright hate it, but it's also nothing to get really excited about it. Ultimately after 13 years out of the playoffs, literally everything this team does will inspire nothing but apathy from me. Until there's some success I just can't bring myself to care or get invested much one way or the other.

Are they bringing back Hasek too?
Because otherwise this makes zero sense.
