The Calgary Flames announce today that they have signed forward Byron Froese to a one-year, two-way contract with an AAV of $700,000.

Froese, a native of Winkler, MB, split his 2018-19 season between the Laval Rocket and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League. Froese suited up in a total of 70 games, scoring 21 goals and adding 23 assists for 44 points last season. Froese has 110 games of NHL experience split between Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Montreal. The 28-year-old forward has totaled 5 goals and 11 assists for 67 points in his NHL career.

HEIGHT: 6'1" WEIGHT: 200 lbs.

Froese was the Captain of the Laval Rockets and a likely candidate for Stockton's captain this season.

I'm sure he wishes 5 goals and 11 assists was 67 points!


Played with RNH amongst others in Red Deer . had no clue he had amassed more than 100 NHL games

Byron Froese excited to sign with #Flames. He and his wife Teil welcomed their first child just over a month ago.
"We both said to each other 2 months ago it would be nice to sign in Calgary and have the chance to stay here a bit longer, if not the whole season."
