Again, it is neither. Just because it somehow could have been worse does not make it good. Myers is a bottom pairing defenseman who in a pinch maybe could play 5. He's basically replacement level. Giving him Mark Stone's contract would be overpaying him.

The whole "IT'S GOING TO BE 7x7M" thing earlier in the week appears to have adjusted peoples' expectations. It's not a historically awful signing, but it's still going to be probably the worst contract handed out today.

Burke and kyprieos thought it was a great signing that all that matters to me lol

Did you think he was going to sign for less than his last contract? In free agency?

No. I thought that whoever signed Tyler Myers was going to give him too much money, for too many years, and would ultimately come to regret it.

...and if Burke and Kaveman Kypreos are on board, that might make me even more certain that it is a bad idea.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Per @DavidAmber, Tyler Myers will get $16M of his $30M deal from #canucks in signing bonuses.

Guess that means they don't have to protect him in the expansion draft, not that Seattle is going to take him.

Would I prefer he make less, of course, but i think hes a 2nd pairing d man, so it's not a bad deal

Really like the Jordie benn signing, he was really good in Montreal last year, and hes like brodie in that he can play on the left but hes better on the right, so gives some flexibility

Big big upgrade on D for Canucks, I would assume Canuck fans would be very happy with both players to their roster.

Lol, that’s kind of a moot point. If it turns out as a good contract they will have protect him anyway.

Dang it. Was hoping the Flames can sign Myers and then get rid of Brodie.

I would rather have Brodie as he's a better player.

The idea was never to replace Brodie with a similar salaried D. It was to replace Brodie on defence internally and have money for a better forward.
