A lot of depth landed in this batch. We needed a 13th F and a 7D. Landed 4/5 of our bids.
I went a little high on Kulikov as he is a player I like.

Probably overpaid on Johns, but feel he can take a step forward (after the current NHL playoffs) as injuries held him back. Would be curious what the next closest bid was. I kept adding to the bid, I think I started at 1.9.
Simmonds can fill out the bottom 6, and if he ever gets it together again will be good value in years 2 and 3.

The guy that I wanted was Johns, and totally misjudged the market on that one.

Van unsuccessfully bid 3*$1.7 on Johns, was really hoping to snag him but congrats.
In total we went 1 for 3, adding Filppula as our 4th line centre for depth on a 2 year contract.

Made a few bids on a few players, but missed out on all. Curious to see who all are available in Batch 4. Just was looking for some stop-gap players to ice an NHL caliber line-up this year, so didn’t want to commit too many dollars or years.
Missed by a bit on Elliott and a slightly large amount on Greiss. Was thinking of offering him 1 million (Elliott) but based on batch 2 goalies decided to go a bit lower, and make an extra bid on a different player.
Missed by a whole lot on Johns though.

Needed two fourth liners, and while Cogliano and Loui aren't great - they will be good enough for that $ amount

The Leafs were looking to add a capable third goalie and felt we wouldn't be able to afford Greiss or Elliott, so targetted Nilsson instead. Happy to bring him aboard on a reasonable deal.

Happy to add Elliott at that contract moving forward. I think he'll probably be around the NHL a few more years and should maintain a decent rating as a back-up. Polak will be good this year as a depth D with a good defensive rating but unless he changes his mind will be a buyout candidate down the road. For now he will help round out our PK.
