Yeah, me neither. It all started with him mocking Canada Day after that I think it was 19 inning game that Cleveland won and then he was a pretty big ###### during the playoffs.
It would be a lot like when Bertuzzi played for the Flames. It felt gross being happy whenever he scored.

That's crazy considering he just started playing the position last year!

Not surprising. Too bad Roark didnt have a team option they could decline as well.

Yeah, it's supposedly 12 pounds since the end of the season.
The rest he must have lost after he was taken off of 3rd base because he apparently came to camp weighing around 280lbs.
Good for him, it's great to see.
Hopefully he's instilling life changing habits so that he can keep the weight off and be a better professional going forward.

280????
And people said I was body-shaming.
Great to see the kid taking his future seriously.
He has the talent to make $400M.

The Jays have some really nice young pieces to build around, and a weird off season where many teams won't be bidding on top free agents who normally would be.
I hope they are really aggressive. They can effectively fill out pretty much every hole in the roster this off season if they can convince some of these FA's to sign with them and get them to believe in their vision.
The Mets and White Sox though, will also be very tempting destinations for FA's too unfortunately.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here yet but I could see the Jays really being involved with the discussions around Francisco Lindor.
Only 27, was a Shapiro/Atkins guy, and is an elite short stop. Could see them moving Bichette to 2nd, and then Biggio becomes a ultility guy that can play 2B, OF, and 3B likely.

Haha, about 20 or 30 posts ago.

I'd be scared of what goes the other way though if they trade for him, but I doubt it would be any pitching prospects. Cleveland seems to do just fine with that on their own. Would probably have to send Moreno and/or one of Martinez or Groshans maybe?
|
Lindor would be an amazing addition, depending on the cost of course.
Instantly solidifies the most important infield position defensively, and he's a also a top-middle of the order bat with speed too. And in his prime with many prime years left.
My bet is he ends up in the NL, as there will be plenty of teams going after him and I'm sure the Indians would rather see him over there rather than on a team they will be competing for playoff spots with more than likely.

@JeffPassan:
First free agent deal of the offseason is done. Left-hander Robbie Ray and the Toronto Blue Jays are in agreement on a one-year, $8 million deal, a source familiar with the contract tells ESPN. Good start to the hot stove for Toronto, which will use Ray as a starter, and for Ray.

Fine with me, I didn’t mind Ray. Glad they’re going to spend some cash.

Well, I'd rather see them pay this amount of money for one year of Ray than basically the same amount for one more year of Chase Anderson.
On paper, the rotation is "full" now.
Ryu
Stripling
Pearson
Roark
Ray
I believe they have said they plan on stretching out Kay, Hatch and Merryweather as well.
Doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.
Luckily there is still lots of off season left. They really need to add a legit #1 or #2 starter IMO.

Great move getting Ray for 1 year. Either they are in contention and he’s a helpful piece, or we can flip him for an asset at the deadline. Almost no risk here.

Yeah, I'm in favour of Ray too. I'm totally happy with them not getting a big name FA pitcher this year either. If they want to spend money go after a position player, and when they're fully ready to go all-in, then splurge on the pitcher or two.
