Ferland has improved every year so I hope he is continuing that trend. No doubt he won’t continue this pace but I’m not going to dismiss his performance thus far too quickly. I guess he will be compared to Lindholm for a while but ultimately it’s about what makes the team better.

I always thought Ferland had a ton of potential, and just needed the right environment. I’m fine with ‘canes being my Eastern hope.

I just don't understand how he was not able to do that with Guadreau and Monahan for extend periods of time? Are Aho and Teravainen really that different? Yes I know it's early.. and we have seen Ferland do this for bits of the year then completely disappear; however, I've watched a lot of Canes games and he looks REALLY good. Contract year maybe? I don't know but I am kind of disappointed he is not in our lineup anymore... I mean we gave Neal 5 Mil to play on the third line...

Ferland was getting it done on the first line in Calgary. Just that a lot of people are expecting him to score 50 goals like Cheechoo and waiting for a bust. Then, he got injured and everyone wrote him off. You can't blame the guy when pretty much the whole team fell apart down the stretch, especially when Monahan also got injured.
I'll be rooting for Ferland to have great seasons and get what he deserves. It sucked that the Flames have to give him up in that trade with the Hurricanes.

It's funny to see him be so successful and Hamilton is struggling immensely..
Hamilton was the crown jewel of the trade but it looks like Ferland is the hidden gem for Carolina.
It's still early though..

Until the second half of the year where he might score two goals. I have zero doubt he will fall off a cliff, he always does.

Why? Because the trend with Ferland is to get red hot and then disappear so I am the bad guy for guessing that happens again?

Do you not comprehend he was hurt from January until the season ended?

So was Monahan. This has been a trend with Ferland his whole career. He disappears for big stretches

Inconsistency is to be expected when you're a 1.75M/year player. At 5-6M, that would be a problem. We'll see how he holds up the rest of the season.

Yeah but Ferly has improved every season. Ferly was the best option this team had last season on RW. Monahan dissapeared too also because of injury.

I thought Monahan did pretty good. I am not saying I want Ferland to fail, I just think he is streaky. He can score 50 as far as I am concerned, I just think he is really streaky.

In the end Ferly is doing good for being a 5th round pick.

OK. I have nothing against the guy and his story is inspiring, I just don't think he is on his way to being a top power forward star player like his early numbers suggest.
