The “keep your head up” argument is past it’s best before date.
Does anyone enjoy seeing stuff like this still? Really? Kid lying face down on the ice out cold?
I have no desire to see gigantic open ice its like the one referenced, but keeping your head up and protecting yourself is an essential part of the sport and needs to stay that way.

We can change the rules but hockey is fast, the players big and padded up, the ice is rock hard and the boards are unforgiving and dangerous.

There is no more important a skill for player to learn than how to protect themselves. I would like to see predatory hits out of the game, but I want players getting better at protecting themselves, not making it less of a priority. Especially minor hockey players.
