Thus made me laugh. Especially because the patriots are so bad they got the chiefs flexed from a Monday nighter to a Sunday 1 pm game. Embarrassing.

So assuming the three undefeated teams are 1-3 (I guess no rose bowl for UM/UW), who gets 4th
I'd have to say Texas with the H2H win over the SEC champ.

It’s an impossible choice. No way they go without a sec team. You can’t leave fsu out. You can’t put Alabama ahead of the Texas team that beat them.
Play in game?

First time I can remember the committee having such a difficult choice. On merit FSU gets in but I just don’t see how them being the best 4 is possible with that offence. I doubt FSU beats any of Bama, Georgia or Texas. But they’re undefeated and have arguably the most impressive resume.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say SEC gets shutout. Texas gets in at 4 because they beat the SEC champ on the road. Michigan, Washington and FSU 1-2-3.

I don’t think FSU makes it.
I’m also betting Liberty doesn’t make the NY bowl game, it will be SMU who at least played some decent teams.

If you’re an FSU fan would you prefer to win a bowl game and argue about being left out of the CFP or get throttled by someone in the CFP?

Interesting question.
You can do the UCF where you really had no shot at winning but because you were left out you can pretend you did.
I think that works for a lower program like UCF but for FSU, especially since they have been down for a few years that the return to the play-off might mean more symbolically and they can still claim they only lost because Travis was injured.

FSUs defense looked elite though. With a month of practice, they could get their second string qb going enough to put up a good fight.
It does look like they’ll be the ones left out but it stinks to basically tell them they had no path to the playoffs this year. They even scheduled two sec teams. Leaders out one if one loss team because they didn’t do everything in their control to make it.

Quite a difference a year makes. This time last year we had two power five non-conference champs in the playoff and now we're guaranteed a power five conference champ is going to get screwed. And while I have been kind of adamant that FSU would be in with a win I definitely hope the committee keeps them out. Unless FSU can be allowed to spend like $20 million to have Caleb or Shadeur or Jayden Daniels come be their QB for the playoff. But watching them try and grind out a 13-10 win is going to be painful. That said, if they do get in I won't be too upset, plus the thought the SEC could actually get left out is really funny.

I can’t handle the prospect of TU winning a national championship so I want the best teams possible in the playoff. Sorry FSU.
And before anyone asks. It’s TU in certain circles because while they may think they are THE University of Texas, really they’re just another Texas University.

Official top 4
Michigan
Washington
Texas
Alabama
I agree. If you’re picking I don’t see how FSU is considered one of the 4 best teams right now. The criteria isn’t just record and head to head, it’s also injuries. It’s right there in the selection criteria. FSU might have had one of the best resumes but no one in their right mind is picking them to beat any of the other top 6 or 7 with their current QB.

Sucks to see Texas in there but not surprising they got it wrong.
It seems like a bad mix of not putting the best teams in and not putting in the teams with the best records so making the games matter.
I have no problem leaving FSU if you say you want the best teams but in that case how is Georgia out when they would beat Texas by double digits?
