AD just got an unexpected $5 million advance to star in a movie from LeBron's company no one will ever see. In unrelated news, AD waived his $5 million trade kicker to give the Lakers max space. Doesn't matter how easy the East may or not be, a team with LeBron, AD and Kawhi goes 98-0 if they try every game.

Although let's take a second to marvel at the Knicks. Traded Porzingis to clear up max cap space, tanked all year only to end up third in the draft lottery in a two elite player draft, watched the Lakers jump way up in the lottery for the vital piece in the AD trade, and then missed on all UFAs. Should let the Nets play in MSG until Dolan sells.

Dolan is an idiot but the allure of NY is still there. I think with them they’ll likely sign a second rate player, especially one with a big ego. With this years crop of FA’s it’s a recipe for this to happen.

Damn, it is insane out there right now. Like 3/4 of the free agents already signed, with a lot of them moving teams. Meanwhile, Kawhi's the one guy who doesn't seem in a rush.

Knicks actually did well with Julius Randle for three years and $63 million. Hilarious though that he's kinda like Zion....minus athleticism.

I hope I'm wrong but I think he leaves now.
He likely has chosen the Clippers but doesn't want to sign so fast. At least make it look like he was unsure between the Raps and Clippers. If he signed with the Clippers right when free agency opened it would hurt Rap fans I think.
Hope I'm wrong though!

Or....
I just read Kawhi wants to announce on Canada Day!
If that is the plan he is more Showtime than we all thought.

It was some guy on a basketball site. No actual proof.
But it would be cool!

Jimmy Butler to the Heat in a sign and trade. Horford to the Sixers.

Wow, that is huge, imo. Butler going somewhere with Kawhi was the other rumour floating around. Taking that out makes Kawhi to Toronto a real possibility now.

Kawhi has never struck me as the sort of player who wants to be a part of a super team. I think he likes being top dog.
Toronto kept him healthy, did right by him, and won a championship. Oh, and they turned the most anonymous star in the league into a god.
Kawhi stays.

I am disappoint. Thought Morey would find a way to get him in Houston.

Thinking more about Kawhi's decision and he really hold all the keys to next year either being the most wide open NBA season maybe ever, or the most boring in history. As long as he doesn't sign with the Lakers, there are a good 8-10 teams who have a legit shot at a ring. If he joins the Lakers we're all hoping for some torn ACLs to add drama. I guess this is where we find out once and for all if he's a fun guy or not.

Warriors adding D'Angelo Russell is pretty shocking.

Golden State is trading Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies, league source tells ESPN. Warriors are sending a 2024 protected first-round pick in the 2024 (protected 1-4), 2025 (protected 1) and 2026 unprotected.

That is a huge price to pay to get out from the tax for the Warriors. Russell is really nice and young too, but any of those picks could be a lottery pick when Steph and Klay will be either retired or a shell of themselves.

It’s only 1 pick not 3 so pretty standard for that amount of money.
