Does he list the 10 teams that don’t have the assets? That sounds like the flames would only have 2 out of the 3. Not sure if Buffalo would consider any of the flames prospects to be A-list.

Flames aren’t on his list so A level must include flames prospects. Also need to remember that Valimaki ranked higher as a prospect as zary or Pelletier did so he IMO should qualify as a top prospect in a deal like this

If you click on the link, he lists all ten teams that probably don’t have the assets to land Eichel. Good explanation for each, they are: Pittsburgh, Boston, Tampa, Washington, Columbus, Arizona, Montreal, Toronto, St. Louis and New York Islanders

I still look at The Athletic’s proposal of Tkachuk + 1st + Zary as a hell of a package, and a move that I think makes sense for both sides.

Will anyone offer a better player at Tkachuk’s age? Buffalo could instantly slap the “C” on his chest, and extend him long-term for big money. Zary was an excellent pick and is a solid prospect (projections are very similar to what Dylan Cozens looked like), and then the 13th (12th) overall.

If the Flames offer that package, I think Buffalo would be hard pressed to find a better return.

If Tkachuk is being offered, Zary doesn’t need to necessarily be an A prospect. Tkachuk would probably be the best roster player the Sabres can get by far, it would balance out the rest of the package.

I don’t put too much into what LeBrun is saying. The night Darryl was hired, I asked him on his podcast earlier that day if he heard anything about Sutter to Calgary, and he had nothing.

Some of those teams are knocked out solely because of a lack of a 2021 first. But wouldn;t a 2022 1st be more valuable? Unless Buffalo wants the immediate return for the fans at the draft.
