Nobody counts preseason stats and I imagine this exhibition game will be treated the same way.

I think the question was about the stats from the play in round, not the exhibition game

I think SN590 mentioned on hockey central that it is rumoured to be included with playoff stats. I might be mistaken.

The play-in round stats are definitely being lumped in with the rest of the playoff stats. I think I saw Friedman say that but I know it was definitely said.

This will bother me because of how badly it skews playoff numbers historically. I would prefer these be added to regular season totals, because that most closely corresponds to what they are, but I understand why that is also impossible. In the end, leaving the statistics in their own one-off category would be most preferable and most fair—missing a maximum of five games from a 75-game total (=7%) is much less intrusive than it will be adding them to a possible 28-game total (=18%).

According to Francis, Monahan and Ward hinted that whatever is keeping the two groups separated would end soon.

Monahan downplayed Gaudreau’s absence from the big boys, hinting that whatever COVID-19 constraints have been placed on the team would end soon enough.

“The big thing is timing and game situational stuff,” he said when asked of things they’d normally be working on as a trio.

“At the moment we’re in two different groups. I think it’s good they’re broken down so you’re getting your work in and your reps. I’m not really too worried – individually you’ve got to be prepared and be ready for whatever will come. I’m sure we’ll be back together soon.”

Ward hinted as much.

“At some point we’re going to get them back together and they’ll take off from there,” said the interim coach following Tuesday’s pair of skates.

“They’ve had enough chemistry together over time that when we get them back together I’m sure it will be like riding a bike. I’m not that worried about it to be honest with you.”

Imagine if an Oiler wins the scoring title for the once in a lifetime play-in round. He gets to be the all time round robin leading scorer forever. Banner worthy.
It could be known as the "Sam Gagner 8 points, just as good as Gretzky" trophy.

Exactly. Their best players were miles better than the Flames best players, who were timid with low compete level.

Zero chance of winning when that happens.

I'll take the Flames signing Gio Jr. any day of the week.

Well I hope they can ride that bike better than they were riding it 70 games in.

Tkachuk's line could've been called the top line for much of the past season. Not enough reliable production from Johnny and Mony.

Hopefully the break serves as a reset for them.
