Jankowski
Rieder

Kylington

Yelesin
Gillies
Zagidulin

Valimaki, Mackey, Ruzicka, Phillips the cuts.

Yeah no way Jankowski AND Reider are sitting in favor of Czarnik...who would PK? In fact Im not sure either guys sits behind AC.

Well Ryan, Backlund, Lindholm and Bennett can all PK... but I see your point.

I'd love to see Dube on the kill. I think he'd be absolutely perfect for it.

I'll gladly give up my spot for whoever earns it.

But yeah, I would think for the PK that it comes down to Rinaldo or Rieder for the 12th F spot depending on team need (physicality / intimidation or speed / penalty killing) and Janko or Czarnik for the 11th F spot again depending on team need (penalty killing vs another potential offensive weapon).

Czarnik tore up the AHL however after being sent down and it sounded like a numbers game leading up to the trade deadline.

16 goals and 17 assists on 32 AHL games. Though he's been a PPG player in the AHL for his entire career. 188 points in 189 games.

Won’t happen but what I’d like to see.
I would honestly love to see Bennett centering Czarnik

Injury/Illness/Opt out not withstanding I don't see why the Flames don't go into the play in using the roster and lines they had at the pause. I doubt we see any major change that's voluntary.

Nope...again hockey IQ comes into that aspect of playing PK...he just has never shown that part of it.

There is no question IF he was any good at it..one of his coaches would have used him there and saved one of his top guys the wear and tear of a very hard part of the game.

Its just not who he is and likely will ever be.

Lucic - Ryan - Dube was one of our best lines at the pause, they had been playing great for quite a while.

I quite like having Rinaldo and Rieder as the two 12th Fs available. Rinaldo could easily change a series with a huge hit, Rieder's speed could also prove very effective against an opponent's 4th line and bottom D pairing.

Even Jankowski and Bennett were playing closer to what they did last year since being put back together. I personally would try Czarnik with them because last year when together the line performed quite well.

Literally one of our best PKers by any metric in the 2016-17 season.

"He's not good at PKing because coaches haven't used him".

Um, okay.

At first I looked and was wondering if it was a Flames scramble board, then realized they were listed in order of jersey number

Why bring 4 goalies? Are they not allowed emergency replacements?

I think once you're in the bubble, that's it.

If you need a 5th goalie let's be honest, you're screwed anyway.

Well I think everyone agrees on the top 6 on forward and defence and think Rittich should be given the first look in net.

Bottom 6 is up for debate.

I personally would like to see something other than both Reider and Jankowski in.

If one is in I’m alright with it but I really disliked the Bennett-Jankowski-Reider line throughout the season.

Yes, he is a great prospect, but even without the exemption issue, he is not going to be in the top 8 right now. WITH the exemption issue, the only way that he sees a game is if half the D core is in the infirmary. Even then he'll be the last option.
Yeah exactly.

The Flames have a lot of rope in explaining Valimaki not playing visa vi the expansion draft.

Nobody could accuse them of stacking an expansion deck when a) the kid hasn't played in a year plus and b) there are plenty of experienced options ahead of him.

"The meeting (we had) with our guys is that we owe it to all of (them) to play our best 20. There's plenty that are joining us for training camp that have been up and down throughout the year and what I like about the variance of roster is that there are people who do a little bit of everything. We do have some violinists and we have some guys that can do the pitchfork work. Regarding what job needs to be done, I think we've got the people who have the skillset to do that. There will be competition.

"I'm not a big believer in momentum carrying over from wherever we ended in March to when we're going to start in August. I don't believe in that. You're going to have to create your own momentum. So, it's starting fresh and ultimately we're going to go with the best 20."

Wouldn't be surprised to see Czarnik earn his way into the starting lineup. He's done so the past 2 camps.

A minor nitpick, but I wish someone spell-checked that release before they issued it. What are "defecemen"?

Valimaki always brings it in camp... We might be -1 protection slot

Like if Valimaki is exactly as good as he was when he got injured, he is definitely a better option than Kylington or Yelesin

31 2 Thoughts, with FanIn80:

- Tkachuk was playing on the right side almost all year, why would he suddenly be back on the left?

- Why are we all of a sudden talking about Czarnik again? Has something magical happened in the last two months that has turned him into an NHL player?
