Wayne Gretzky bought him a Big Mac.
Speaking of which... Remember when Gretzky was the coach in Phoenix? That was weird and it lasted 4 seasons.
Also, after the lockout, Brett Hull signed with the Coyotes and they unretired Bobby's Jets number for him to wear... then he retired after 5 games. Crazy times.

Pretty sure the Habs opted out of playing Alzner a while ago. Too bad, I always liked him in Calgary.

Its hard to blame these guys. My money says that if the NHL werent being forced by third-party contracts to finish the season and deliver some content as well as being desperate for the revenue they'd have binned this season already.

He won't be forgotten when they raise a banner for him.

Not intended as a burn at all. It's too bad that Karl has fallen out of favour in Montreal, he's always played the game honestly. I can't blame him for not wanting to come back knowing that Montreal has seemingly moved on from him. Why risk anything to sit in the press box?

Jokinen as a Coyote makes sense but the end of his career is a steady dose of WTF he played for them?
- Jets
- Leafs
- Preds
- Blues
Leafs and Blues? WTF?

Was never a great skater and slowed down over the years. That, coupled with the game speeding up - was a bad combo for him.

I'm sure that god awful contract didn't help either. I can't help but think if he was making a lot less someone would have taken a chance on him.

I’m surprised there aren’t more.
If you’re UFA with a a few million in the bank and a likely contract or any player with little chance at an NHL gig either way, why bother.
You get to leave your family for weeks and 20k? An injury will cost those players waaay more.

I think the deadline is Monday, so I’m sure the numbers will go up. I’ll put the over/under at 24 (one per team average).
Thing is most players who have opted out so far, would have been extras on their team in any case.

I'm surprised we haven't heard from Domi yet, though it doesn't sound like he's taking part in the practices - so perhaps just a matter of time for him to make it official. Same with Kakko and Luke Kunin.

The one I always think about is Gilmour as a Leaf... the second time around. Lasted for all of 30 seconds or something like that until he blew his knee out against the Flames

Ron Francis and Brian Leetch as Maple Leafs. At the same time!

Peter Forsberg as a Pred is a weird one.
