Could be a blessing for the Jets if they fell to the wildcard. They should rather have a slumping Canucks over a waste of eight days with the Avs in round one.

Maybe they're intentionally tanking

Especially considering the Hawks don’t win on the road and seldom win with their backup in.
Much like last year, the Hawks doing the anti-tank at the end of the season and looks like they’ll even catch Anaheim.

Wild lose 2-1 after pulling goalie in OT and therefore don't get the single point. Haven't seen that happen in OT before.

They still get 1 point for losing in OT.

I don't think that's correct. Even though the wild Knights game went to OT, that was a 2 point game. Knights got both points and wild with nothing.

Not if you pull your goalie.

Just to confuse matters, at first the NHL standings page credited Minnesota with the point for the OT lost. It has since been removed.
Apparently the website programmers weren't aware of that rule either.

The tactic of pulling the goalie in OT smacks of desperation, and, when the OT rules were implemented, commentators speculated that such desperation would only apply in late season, all or nothing gambles.

You are likely to see many more wins if the Flames get better beans.
Unless you think a few wins now, when the Flames are eliminated, are more important than hundreds wins in the next 15 years.

The Wild pulled their goalie twice in OT, won once, lost once, and got 2 points.
If they had kept their goalie in both times, the most likely outcome is that they would still have won once and lost once – and they would have had 3 points. Even if they had lost both games, they would still have the 2 points.
They made themselves worse off.
As a betting proposition, it's not worth pulling your goalie in OT unless it gives you a 75% chance of winning that game. Usually when a team has the odds that strongly in its favour, the game never makes it to overtime in the first place.

Never saw either game, but did they pull their goalie in regulation of the tie game in either one? To me that makes more sense since your risk is getting nothing, but your reward is gaining 2 points instead of 1. So unless you have a PP I don't think it makes any sense unless you predicated it with using the extra attacker in regulation.

They should just give up their berth to a team that's ready to play with a chip on its shoulder.
It may require a full group effort to bounce the no goods this year, and everybody needs to be pulling their weight when the time comes.
