What even was that...cast is TERRIBLE IMO, did I order Survivor off wish?
at the risk of sounding like a broken record Survivor AU is 10x better than the US version these days.
oh and ridiculously bad luck for Yoho

Thought it was a good opener. My 2 picks are on the green tribe, so, uh, go green! A few of these people need to take it down a notch or 30.

Casting is completely out to lunch. They are no longer for any strong players and simply seeking the quirkiest group of people in North America they can find. For 3 nights I've been trying to get through episode 1 but it's so boring.

Millions of people apply and they have a guy who has to drop out because he lied about medical issues...and they treat him like some kind of hero.
My guy blew out his shoulder running on soft sand in the first 5 mins. Even the first guy out seemed thrilled about it.
The challenges this year are going to be hilarious, comedy of errors. Maybe we see some good strategy but I have my doubts, hopefully its just the covid seasons that suck balls. Why are they trying to reinvent the wheel?
Watching Survivor AU simultaneously its mind bottling how much better that cast is.

Torrents
it streams on 10play for free in Australia so a VPN will work
Its also on youtube...but they are its 17 episodes in and with all the giant thumbnails on the videos there would be some spoilers.
Someone recommended it to me a couple years back, maybe even on here I can't remember. I would say the last 3 seasons AU has been better overall, I went in thinking this is going to be a cheap knock off and was blown away. Challenges are insanely physical, current US tribes wouldn't win a thing on there.
Queen Sandra and her daughter on are on the current season of AU FYI.
I will keep watching US survivor and hope it improves...they seem to be more worried about woke storylines and ridiculous twists than the actual game though, AU is more old school survivor turned up a notch or two.

Even after one episode I find the contestants more enjoyable than last season. So in that regard I'm looking forward to this season, but I do agree with those wanting stronger players. I'm sure they can find strong players with good personalities somewhere.

I also agree with wanting stronger or at least more mature contestants. The problem is that the show wants to give everyone and anyone a chance, while catering to todays social and personality mediums. Thus creating a bigger fan base and contestant pool.
I believe Survivor was on the verge of being cancelled and when they opened it up then it became the “ if he can then I can “ show. I really don’t mind that but ya, casting needs to get better.

I've been wondering about ways to make it more interesting, and maybe it's just because I'm getting older...but I've been thinking about bumping up the age of the cast. Say a 'bottom' age of 30. Have a group of 30-45/50 year olds do this. People who have lived at least some life (not just school/college) and have a lot of experience with a lot of people, and who understand what a million dollars could to do transform their lives.
Having a bunch of kids in the ~20 range...they just aren't interesting people to me.

They don't have to all be models and body builders but the pendulum has swung too far, I actually like the idea of having more "regular people" but come on now. Its like they went out of their way to find the least athletic people on earth.

I have found that ever since they got rid of Lynne Spillman their casts keep getting worse

Those 2 scrawny guys might actually drop dead with no food for a month.
And yea, casting seems pretty boring again.

I might end up taking a season of survivor off, I mean I've got episode one recorded but two hours seems to be a drag.

Watching Survivor AU now. Just into the first episode and it feels like the the first 5 seasons! They really do cast member bios really well. I watch Masterchef Australia as well and this really has the same feel.
Love they they brought Sandra in. (Not a spoiler)

Marya gets the boot last night in another ho hum episode...as posters said above, watching the Aus version in comparison just makes this look like a walk on the beach.
Time to let Probst walk and bring in Jonathan LaPaglia as host and let him run things!

Great, I picked the vegan! At least he recognized he had to eat.
Fairly dull episode, the next one looks interesting though. Hinted at Maryanne finding the 3 way idol, and maybe everyone drowning, so they stopped the challenge?

Hah. I picked the vegan, too! I was thinking "Aw, crap. That'll be an easy out."
The episode...happened. Maybe something interesting'll happen next episode.
So I tried that show "Beyond the Edge", since I was curious.
I was not impressed.
It's trying to be a sort of Survivor wannabe, with C-D list celebs/atheletes (The only one I recognized was Jodi Sweetin). There is no real Survivor aspect, as they are given a bunch of food, and shelters 3/4 done to start with. They compete in challenges to earn money for their charities then moan about how hard it was for them. The 'fish out of water' aspect isn't even that interesting. The hosts voice is annoying. I probably won't watch another episode of it.

Looks like they have to stop a challenge next week because they all suck so bad and might drown...might be good for a laugh anyway.
