Yeah I had it on my m.2 SSD and didn't find the loading times to be bad

It's one of the worst console games ever for load times IMO. There have been games with longer load times but not one that you had to go from load screen to load screen like The Outer Worlds. It made the game a chore to play at times which is a shame.

I’ll add Luigi’s Mansion and Gears 5 to my prior list, as well.

Both systems are going to have SSDs standard next gen, so that should help significantly.

Honestly for the money I would just swap it out now on PS4. Made Outer Worlds way better.

Yea my PS4 Pro has an SSD in it, and while load times are not as fast as a PC with an SSD, it's definitely a nice upgrade.

Can I make a few adjustments to my list? Just finished the single player campaign in Modern Warfare and really enjoyed the story. Usually I skip these.
Now I would have it as:
1. Jedi: Fallen Order
2. COD: Modern Warfare
3. Death Stranding
4. Links Awakening
5. Borderlands 3

Yeah it was shocking for me too. I completed my first play through on PC with a fast SSD. Thought it would be fun for a second play through on PS4 but the load times were onerous.

Outer Worlds
I think those were the only 2019 games I played.

Played only two 2019 releases this year:
1: Jedi Fallen Order
2: Outer Worlds
Haven't finished either yet, but likely will in the next few weeks.

Will this help my PS4 pro not sound like a 747 taking off?
Also, my game of the year is God of War. I finally started playing it and finished it. I take it I'm late to the party.

No, sadly. I've heard opening it, cleaning it and replacing the thermal paste can help with the noise, but I haven't tested that myself.
And God of War was a 2018 game.

Yes, like Codynw said you will need to open it up and clean it right out and replace the thermal paste, the fan is in overdrive because it can't dissipate the heat due to one or all of the above. It won't stop the fan from being loud but should minimize the amount of time the fan needs to ramp up to cool down.

What do you have inside currently? If it's a HDD, it will probably help a little, but as others have alluded to, it seems like working on some heat dissipation upgrades is the path to follow. One of the things I also did was to put the PS4 on a mesh monitor stand to aid airflow and heat dissipation for the unit.
Not a pro, but I put a 2TB Firecuda in my fat PS4 and there was a noticeable difference to me in speed and fan noise as I assume the SSD portion helped to keep temp low and reduce the time the HDD is going full throttle. But I wouldn't say it sounds like a jet nor would I say it's dead quiet.
I've started seeing a options for 2TB SSDs going for sub $200 bucks though... I still think I'd go with the Firecuda as it's like half the price and from what I've read, the performance is relatively negligible. It also kinda sucks the Firecuda maxes out at 2TB models as the drive feels too small. At times I kinda want to upgrade to 4TB rather than having to delete stuff, but no way am I going to downgrade to an inferior speed hybrid or spend an arm or leg on a 4TB SSD.

Thank you for this thread everyone. Recently bought a PS4 (yes, I'm an early adopter) and I'm not much of a console gamer. Bought Outer Worlds largely as a result of hearing about it here and it's really good.

This hasn't been a great year for ps4 games. If you're just playing this generation's titles now, start with The Last of Us, then Horizon Zero Dawn, Witcher 3, Spider-man, Uncharted 4 God of War and I'm sure some people will say RDR2.

OutOfTheCube, any interest in doing a CP game of the decade thread? Or if not, I don't mind doing the legwork with your blessing to steal your format
