Calgary at Seattle

Last season, the expansion Seattle Kraken faced frequent comparisons to the Vegas Golden Knights, who reached the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural campaign.

Perhaps because the fledgling Kraken finished just 27-49-6, there's been little comparing them to the Golden Knights this winter.

Yet entering a Friday night game against the visiting Calgary Flames, the Kraken are not only tied with Vegas for the Pacific Division lead, but they are on pace to shatter the Golden Knights' record for most points in an expansion team's second season.

Kraken host the Flames following Bjorkstrand's 2-goal performance

TOP PERFORMERS: Daniel Sprong has scored 15 goals with 13 assists for the Kraken. Jared McCann has five goals and three assists over the last 10 games.

Tyler Toffoli has 17 goals and 23 assists for the Flames. Andrew Mangiapane has three goals and six assists over the past 10 games.

LAST 10 GAMES: Kraken: 7-2-1, averaging 4.1 goals, 6.7 assists, three penalties and 6.8 penalty minutes while giving up 2.4 goals per game.

Flames: 5-3-2, averaging 3.3 goals, 5.8 assists, 3.3 penalties and 8.5 penalty minutes while giving up three goals per game.

Surely they can’t play any worse than they did last night……right?

Ordinarily I'd call this a scheduled loss. Road game just prior to leaving on a break.

Not so sure now after last night.

Kraken may be without Beniers? Not sure if he came back to the game the other night after getting blindsided by Tyler Myers.

Oh, and not that it matters too much in the grand scheme of things, but please dress Gilbert over Mackey.

What? Again? Surely submitting us to this kind of abuse on two consecutive nights breaks some sort of international war crimes laws.

Back to back with travel and the looming all-star break? Of course they can be worse. And with a much stronger opponent, a 10-0 Seattle win is not out of the realm of possibility.

to all the doom and gloom chicken littles. We currently employ a goalie who is on a 12 game point streak and is 9-0-3.
We don't have to trade for him. We don't have to call him up from the minors. He isn't injured. He's sitting RIGHT THERE on the bench!

Use him.

Flames surprise as they often do. Many expecting a loss (for good reason, odds would point to that I'm guessing), but Flames will end up with an impressive win. First 60 minute game of the season (maybe their 2nd 60 min game)? Go Flames! Morning started off great for me, so let's keep the good mojo going!

I hope they feel angry and embarassed and bring the same effort that they had against Dallas, Tampa and Columbus.
I hope Sutter starts Vladar (though last night was completely team effort loss).
I hope Sutter puts Pelts with Kadri and Huby.
I hope Rozie has shown signs of life and gets back in the lineup and Looch gets to rest one.
I just hope they win, because if they don't, things can go to #### rather quickly after that. Go Flames

Might as well post the godfather 3 gif now. You just know flames are gonna win this in style just to get people to back away from the ledge.

Would not mind seeing:

Pelletier-Lindholm-Huberdeau
Dube-Kadri-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman
Duehr-Ruzicka-Lewis

If they need a goal I would maybe even condense to:

Huberdeau-Kadri-Lindholm
Pelletier-Backlund-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Dube-Coleman

This. Lindholm needs that guy who can feed him in the slot like Tkachuk could. That's Huberdeau. Didn't work well between them before, but I really think the Flames have to try this again. Huberdeau is finding his groove on this team just as Lindholm seems to be cooling off.

See tonight if they can get their #### together without Tanev. If not and he's out for time after the break, uh oh.

Lets see the normal lines with Looch and Pelts swapped. And Darth Vladar.

I got flamed for being pessimistic in the last GDT, but this team just isn't good when Tanev is out.

Seattle is playing great, and Flames are struggling and Tanev is still out. And it's B2B with travel.

Expecting a resounding Flames victory and 60 minute effort.
