Default The Matrix 4 Resurrection

Yes it's happening. 12.22.21. Unless there is a massive surprise no Morpheus which is a huge loss. No Agent Smith at least not the Hugo Weaving iteration. Can't help but fear this film will have its soul CGI'd out of existence.

Please be good.

I'm certainly intriuged. Funny how it looks like Keanu wrapped up the latest John Wick movie and just headed straight to the Matrix set.

I want to believe, but everything the Wachowski's have done past the first Matrix have ranged from meh to awful. If it was a different writer/director team I'd have more hope

Yeah. I'm in the same boat.

'Jupiter Ascending' made me want to scoop my eyes out with a mellon-baller.

We only watched that to appease my kid who thought it would be fun and even she hated it.

It at least looks like a fresh take with gorgeous visuals.

Spoiler!

Also, some were questioning the lack of green filters that were consistent in the earlier installments. I think there could be plot reasons behind that, as this could be a new version of the Matrix as obviously it is based in a different point in human history with smart phones, etc. Could be the reason it is much more bright and vibrant, since I doubt the creators (or I guess creator) forgot about that key component on their earlier productions.

The trick will be to keep it fresh while still feeling based in the same universe. It does have a pretty different aesthetic at first glance.

I believe they won't pretend new guy is morpheus either. I think he will have a different name and is either his son or is a new iteration of Morpheus in some way.

Pamela Anderson: "I can't act!"

Cara Delevingne: "Hold my beer"

edit: she was in Valerian. Ug. Jupiter was the one with Tatum as a furry.

I think it's important to note that this is being done by only one of the Wachowski's.

Not sure what that means for the creative process but it could be better.. could be worse.

I'm excited.

I'm hopeful for a great movie since I love The Matrix.

My expectations are low.

Morpheus appears to be in the movie.

No Lawrence Fishburne though (as far as I'm aware).

Hate to be a downer, but the endless remakes, franchising and sequels in movies is tiring.

agreed.

the trailer didn't get me very excited. I'm probably still scarred after the last two Matrix movies.

I'll expect total crap and be happy if it's only mostly crappy. At least I can crush on Trinity again.

I'm giving the Wachowskis a rough ride for their post-Matrix efforts, but lets not lump them in with Valerian....*shudder*

And yes, Jupiter was the one where Tatum was a Furry....who could FLY!

There were other things, but I checked out pretty quick.

Did anyone even watch 'Speed Racer?'

That movie lost an astonishing amount of money. I'm surprised a stuido signed a cheque for any Wachowski to make another film.

It's a shame they couldn't have reprised Hugo Weaving's role at least in a small capacity. IMO he was one of the best things about the series.

I agree but unfortunately it's a sign of the times where movies cost so much to make and original ideas take a leap of faith for studios to back with $$$ and sequels offer a degree of security that there will be a built-in audience. With a sequel like this there's a lot of ingredients available to make a good movie and you just hope the Wachowski's can put it together.

Any fans of Cloud Atlas? I loved it but kind of understood why it went under the radar.

Quite a project to take on, the scope was huge but I think they did a great job.

*Quietly Raises Hand*

I actually really quite liked that movie.

The big four were the soul of the films.

Missing two here. The fill in for Morpheus looks pretty good tbh. But yes, they'll need an equally "big" personality to fill Weaving's shoes which will be a huge task. I get the sense that the guy speaking at the end is our new big baddie agent.
