Released this morning. I read that there was an issue with the update failing occasionally, so Google pulled it this evening. A new build is supposed to be up this week.

Cool. I'll keep an eye out for it.
Kinda anxious for this one. #3 broke some apps.

I guess some Pixel 2XL's were running into boot loop issues.
Nothing like that has happened on my PH-1

Anyone use an Asus Zenfone 4? Pretty good sale at Costco (Ontario) for $200. Thanks!

Just grabbed a Moto G7 Power from Best Buy online for $250 free shipping and this is almost too good to be true. 5,000 mah battery and more than snappy enough for my daily use. "Good phones are getting cheap and cheap phones are getting good" is the most true right now than it's ever been.
Yeah you get what you pay for, but the notion of spending $1,000+ for a Galaxy S-whatever seems insane to me right now given the strength of mid-tier devices.

I was looking into Moto's, the only issue I had read is they are really slow to roll out updates.

Debating getting the OnePlus 7 from AliExpress for about $600. Anyone have it? (Non pro version)
There is a thread on RFD about it.

I haven't any experience with the 7, nor a global ROM version of the 7 I presume it would be? But I can speak to the Oneplus itself and of the numerous Android flagship and high level phones I've had over the past 8 years, Oneplus has been hands down the best. I find I bore of phones because of slowdowns, lag, battery life all of that making the phone more of a hassle. I've kept my 6 bone stock and it runs just as fast as the day I bought it, my battery life has suffered by a couple hours but I still use it all day, it gets updates frequently and its just worked. My only complaint is I cracked the back glass on it once, but I only noticed because I changed my skin (from a drop on a corner, not heat).

yeah, it's a global ROM. I had a Oneplus one when it first came out. Loved it.
I think I'm going to buy it.

My wireless charging (Note 8) worked for all of 6 months, now does not work at all.
Neither does my buddies (Note 10, 3 months of use).
Seems like a flaw in the design.

The only risk is with the global ROM. You can flash the non global version, but I don't know how much you're saving by getting a phone that might not have any support?

basically $600 for the 8gb ram version or $710 for the 12gb. Seems like a pretty good deal.

Previous years have seen me make a major upgrade every year or two years but with how much device prices outright have been outrageous it's hard to make that justification when the differences between devices is minimal in day to day use. The last one I did, S7 edge to Note 8 was almost a $500 jump when I got back the value of my first device towards the new one. Now the next Note is probably going to start around $1400 if not more.
And they're releasing a pro model? Who has money to jump onto these phones these days I wonder. Anyways, I'm trying to see what else is still a jump but short of taking something like a S10+, I don't see a whole lot of devices that attract me. I want to like the Pixel but no micro SD basically makes it a nonstarter.

I find microSD to be kind of useless. Android OS doesn't use them very well, I have a hard time forcing apps and media onto them.
I'd rather just have 256GB built in (hence part of the allure of the OnePlus 7)

Yeah, on-device storage is slowly becoming obsolete. Cloud storage just has so many more benefits.

256GB is my sweet spot for phone storage as well. It gives you plenty of room for apps and lets you freely record 4K video without worrying about running out of room. My S10+ has 128GB built in and I have a microsd card of the same size.
Sadly, Samsung is following Apple and sets huge price increases for storage upgrades so I skipped that. The 1TB version is like $2500!
I kinda balked when I started paying around $1000 for an iPhone and prices have gotten even crazier since them. I’ve gone from buying the newest Apple & Android flagships when they were released to alternating between them the past couple of years.
I’d probably buy a OnePlus because they have flagship features at lower prices but they haven’t earned my trust yet. Their business practices still leave a bad taste in my mouth.

I have had OnePlus phones for years now and I am never switching. Best Android phones given the stability, performance, battery life, and bang for your buck. I am a lifetime customer unless they #### up.
