But wow. Time to party Toronto!!!

I debated putting this in the RGMG thread and I don't want to pick on you in particular. I'm glad the Raptors won, I actually watched the last three games , its the first NBA games I've ven been interested in. However they most certainly are NOT World Champs and it annoys me greatly whenever I hear it being referred in this way. They are league champs, they are NBA champs, they are a damn good team but to claim they are world champs is over the top. I'll give props to ABC last night and anyone they interviewed. Nobody was proclaimed world champions that I saw which was a nice change.

Yes and the dynasty practically ended with a Chris Webber timeout. Who would have thought of that?

The Raptors beat any team outside the NBA easily (except US national team, which would be all NBA players), that should be a good enough definition of World Champ for anyone

You needed to have an injured star who missed a year who didn’t trust his team. The injury needed to be bad enough that his value was depressed so you didn’t have to gut your team to get him. You needed to have him come back at 100%. You needed to have a top 4 team to start with with Cap space / matching Salary to make the trade.
This is not a replicable way to win a championship. And Toronto doing it just increases the trade cost for everyone trying to replicate it. The price for Davis just went up so now you will deplete your team trying to acquire the top 5 player.
|
This kind of reminds me of how Burke won in Anaheim
Pronger needed out of Edmonton
Niedermayer wanted to play with his brother
Not replicable

So apparently some Sheriff tried to block Masai Ujiri from getting onto the court, and now they're contemplating charging Ujiri with assault. Damn, those US cops sure are brazen!

Sheriff looked heated, Masai looked like he didn’t know what was going on. At the end, Lowry pulls him onto the court to celebrate with the team.

They're trying to say they were attempting to determine who he was before letting him on the floor, which, first of all, isn't their job, and second of all... there's like a couple hundred people on the floor, with and without credentials? He's in a suit. What do you think he's doing?
Idiots.
Anyway, Kawhi winds up 3rd all time in points in a single postseason, behind Jordan and Lebron. Had they played Game 7, he might have actually made it to first place, as he was 33 points back.

Yeah he looked pretty pissed off there - think there is more to that altercation than the video is showing.

Fat white cop harasses black man, then presses charges against him for retaliating. Never heard of that happening before!

Find a basketball team in another league on this planet that can beat the Raptors.
At least a Canadian team winning it internationalizes the phrase.
World Champs. Feels good.

Just another power tripping cop. That's just one aspect.
The other is the race thing. That doesn't happen if Masai is white.
