Mantha should be suspended - as Brouwer should as well using the same logic, both players were throwing heavy punches at a defenseless player while they were on the ice/ground. Both players acted without honour in their fight - the fact that Mantha did so while in the players bench is worse though.
Gulutzan should play ACs clip of Mantha on Hamonic before the game and then unleash his team. Would be the most penalty filled SCF in history I would warrant. Of course, those nimrods would have to make the playoffs first.
That clip pisses me off so bad.
they could also bring noodles out of retirement ...mind you, he'd need to be signed a little early to serve his existing suspension!

He also threw a LOT more. Brouwer threw a few to the back of the head after the player went down. Mantha threw 15 or 20 to a guy that had fallen into the players' bench and was completely defenseless.
It's a pretty big stretch to compare the two.

Yeah Brouwer's actions were poor but Mantha mounted Hamonic UFC style before pummeling him, and he just kept throwing, would have been stopped by a UFC ref part way through, completely unacceptable yet totally ignored by the league.
Brouwer also stopped the second the linesman stepped in. Mantha kept going despite the linesman trying to pull him off. Not to mention the fight not even taking place on the ice by then

Exactly. I actually think the NHL is trying to gloss over the Mantha situation because it could be a big black eye. You can’t beat someone outside of the field of play.

yup. Which is why you throw the book at the guy, not ignore the scene completely. But alas, logic is not something that can be associated with the league.

Nothing stopping Hamonic from emailing all his Islander buddies and talking about how he'd love to take one of them to the most expensive steakhouse in the world after they play the Red Wings. "It's such amazing steak but I can only take one of you. How to decide, how to decide..."
Haha i wish. But no team will do the flames any favours. I know its an unpopular opinion these days but i totally wish we had a goon to go jump a red wings after that happened and settle the score. When hartley set the goons on the canucks i was thrilled. That should happenmore. I want the flames to be a mean angry team.
Interesting how Witlesssky... der "I should have done more during the brawl" was a scratch during the last 9 games and Blaishill decided to play him against the big bad Flames. Seems like this was retribution for Brouwer...yet the never went after Brouwer.
The one thing that bothers me about the brawl was that Hamonic got gang tackled by Zetterberg and Manrha. No one expects a respected player like Zetterberg to fight just like they don't expect he would throw someone down. Pretty bush league by an otherwise classy player.
Mantha's act is why I was so frustrated in the post-game thread:

Credit to Wilson there, as the linesman was doing everything he could to put a stop to it but couldn't catch Mantha's arm. Looks like Mantha got hit with an extra game misconduct (two in total) at the time, so the linesman likely called that. Hopefully he gets some discipline as well.

Most flames fans would be okay with this

When the announcer is relaying the fact of how unfair and unfortunate it was for Hamonic that he fell through the door and Mantha ended up on top during the altercation, as his main point, it's blatantly obvious that Mantha was taking liberties that deserve a suspension.
